Let the pouring begin!
Did You Know? - Silent auction is a variant of the English auction in which bids are written on a sheet of paper. At the predetermined end of the auction, the highest listed bidder wins the item. This auction is often used in charity events, with many items auctioned simultaneously and "closed" at a common finish time.
The auction is "silent" in that there is no auctioneer selling individual items, the bidders writing their bids on a bidding sheet often left on a table near the item.
At charity auctions, bid sheets usually have a fixed starting amount, predetermined bid increments, and a "guaranteed bid" amount which works the same as a "buy now" amount. Other variations of this type of auction may include sealed bids. The highest bidder pays the price he or she submitted.
We wondered around the silent auction items...
Oodles of goodies with profits going to charity!
We studied each one carefully!
We got to take our glasses home.... It's a real deal!
$10/person with glasses, hors-d'euovers, and all the wine you can drink!
Once we got Bob inside, changed his socks, he was fine!
It's time for wine!
We brought our reference book just in case we needed to be refreshed
Three tastes of wine and he is already listing to the right
Quotation To Remember: "Wine is the most healthful and most hygienic of beverages." ― Louis Pasteur
Donna is attempting to open here portable corkscrew...
"Ah Kerstin.... I think they just murdered your name!
Go get your door prize "
"Dear... What is it???"
"Alcohol free beer!!
It can't be!"
Kerstin gots the giggles......
We had a great afternoon... Drinking, comparing, laughing, giggling
Notice the papers... They were taking notes about the wine they were drinking!
These are serious people
The house was full....
Quotation To Remember: "Give me wine to wash me clean of the weather-stains of cares" ― Ralph Waldo Emerson
They are still laughing about the "alcohol free beer"
We are now in the seventh inning stretch... You know what comes next!
It's that time
Wearing the appropriate shirt is essential
Kathy finally memorized all the numbers on her tickets.....
Goodies in the baskets
Zero calories... So they said!
1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 and 6 and 7 and 8 and 9 and zero!
Bob trades one of Donna's cookies for chocolate!
Thank you Carol for your efforts in putting this event on! We loved it!
Why yes.... we do! And two gift baskets
What a great afternoon with special friends.....
Song: Mogen David Wine (Advertisement)
Did You Know? - Mogen David Concord Red wine, which is made from must of no less than 51% Concord grapes (an American grape variety, typically used for grape juices, jellies, and preserves; but also used for kosher wines. This makes the wine less expensive, averaging $5 per bottle) In addition to Concord red, they also market Blackberry and Pomegranate wines.
