We Stayed Around The House Until Mid Afternoon
The next fews days are going to be busy so we stayed at home. Sue worked on our dance club invitations for three hours and then did the treadmill while Paul did some chores and updated the website to show Temecula and the Mission Inn.
We called our son, Joe, and asked him to come over. We had collected trains for several years but as one gets older the time to do the trains seems to get less and less. The trains go back15+ years but they are ageless.
We knew that Alex and Charlie would love the freight train and the Christmas train! Here is proof:
We watched White Christmas and this time in HD on the 70" screen... Wow!

Did You Know? - The photo that Vera-Ellen shows to Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye of her brother, Bennie, is actually a photo of Carl 'Alfalfa' Switzer.
The TV camera in the Ed Harrison Show scene is a real one (a classic RCA monochrome) the call sign atop it was real as well - it was that of Channel 4, NBC's (and thus RCA's) flagship station in New York, which changed its call sign to WRCA-TV the year of the film's release. (They adopted their current WNBC-TV calls in 1960.)
The "Ed Harrison TV Show" that Bing Crosby appears on is a reference to The Ed Sullivan Show (1948) better known as The Ed Sullivan Show, that featured known stars, new talent and vaudeville acts. Ed Harrison was played by Johnny Grant who did not have a long acting career in the movies, but was the honorary Mayor of Hollywood, California who officiated over the unveilings of Stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame from the early 1960s until his death in 2008.
The "Sisters" comedy act that Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye perform was not originally in the script. They were clowning around on the set and the director thought it was so funny that it was written in.

We headed for Old Ranch to say Merry Christmas to James before going to have Paul's birthday dinner with Joe and Amy and the boys at the Panda Inn!

We departed the Panda Inn and went to see Luisa and Mitch in Whittier. They were getting ready for a 20+ person sit down Christmas Dinner. We usually go over after our Christmas dinner but hardly every get to talk to them as they are busy. Tonight we got some good "one on one" time!
