Wine? You Have Our Attention (Page Two)
We stopped at Malibu Wines today!
Right off Mulholland
Did You Know? - A few miles north and volia, Mulholland Highway! Mulholland Highway and Mulholland Drive is a scenic road in Los Angeles County, California, that runs approximately 50 miles through the western Santa Monica Mountains from the near US Route 101 (Ventura Freeway) in Calabasas to Highway 1 (Pacific Coast Highway) near Malibu at Leo Carrillo State Park and the Pacific Ocean coast - at the border of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.
Mulholland Highway is the western rural portion and with the eastern Mulholland Drive portion, is a scenic route named after William Mulholland and built throughout the 1920s "to take Angelenos from the city to the ocean".
We arrived about 2:00
"Bob... Where is your tin cup?"
Donna has found heaven on Earth!
"We present you..... Ta Dah..... Wine!"
Bob and Paul are up to something.... Maybe making the truck blink?
How do we get this in the car??
"Hey guys... You can leave me right here!"
Kathy, Donna, and Vicky look natural by the sign
The grounds are nicely done
They also grow umbrellas
during the summer months
The covered wagon doubles as an aquarium
Plenty of shade for tasting on a hot day
The delivery truck is not running today
A wine barrel turned inside-out and became a lamp... Clever people
That's a big lamp inside the barrel
Our head wine taster in action
Slurp... Gurgle... The ladies are busy
"Hey there... Get a room!"
"Never mind... They are discussing wine!"
Bob appears to be disappointed
Sue provides the adult supervision
Back to wine discussions
"I get a hint of old socks, rubber tires, and sawdust! How about you?"
Great sign until....
We found out the sign was referring to us!
Next time Paul has to wear Big Boy Pants
Opa!
There was a lot of "opa" going on today
We bellied up to the bar...
Neat chandelier made from wine bottles
The gentlemen coagulate around the old trucks
"Dang... I remember when"
"Gentlemen... I have a plan!"
"We can all fit into the bed of the truck except one"
"Then we go down this little road"
Ed has carefully thought the plan through and decided he would take pictures
"Are you guys kidding.... No way!"
Del provides the adult supervision in this crowd
We get our wine tasting brought to us...
"I still think it was a good idea"
Back to the bar and civilization
Three tastes and Vicky is holding up the stone wall
"Like my new hat? It lights up and night.... So do I"
The men return from their walk around the grounds
Wild flowers were all around
Bob takes it easy... Any easier and he would fall off the swing
Saw that!
"Go away... I am relaxed!"
See you later old timer....
We did some grape inspections
Here they come around the mountain here they come
We are out in the boondocks
"Can I drive this home??"
We you soon... Keep the wine pouring
The freeway was a tough ride
"Red Red Wine" is a song written and originally recorded by American artist Neil Diamond. The lyrics are sung from the perspective of someone who finds drinking red wine the only way to forget his woes.
