Mike Henebry Orchestra Dance Party
Did You Know? - The MIKE HENEBRY ORCHESTRA is a SWING ERA BIG BAND from the Southern California area (Orange County). They play the music of, basically, the years 1935-1948. In their incredible library of over 1900 charts, they have authentic arrangements from all of the major bands of the period: Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Duke Ellington, Harry James, Woody Herman, etc.
Many of the Arrangements are the Real McCoy! For example, over 300 of the Benny Goodman arrangements came from the actual Benny Goodman library. Many of the Artie Shaw charts were acquired directly from Mr. Shaw himself! In these cases, these are the "actual" arrangements used to make the famous hit recordings (not a facsimile or an approximation like most bands play). When you put top-caliber musicians behind the "actual" music, you get a sound that is nearly identical to the original!
The band recreates the sound of the bands that gave us what is generally considered to be the very best of the American popular music to date. Everybody still loves the music… In The Mood, Moonlight Serenade, Let's Dance, Marie, I'm Getting Sentimental Over You, Flat Foot Floogie, Tuxedo Junction, Begin The Beguine, A String Of Pearls, Boogie Woogie, Woodchoppers Ball, Little Brown Jug, Sing, Sing, Sing…

"Who Me?"
We Are Also Celebrating Irene's Birthday (Which Was Last Wednesday)
Remember - In childhood, we yearn to be grown-ups. In old age, we yearn to be kids. It just seems that all would be wonderful if we didn't have to celebrate our birthdays in chronological order. ~Robert Brault
The Birthday Girl - She finally slowed down enough to capture her image on the camera
Remember - A true friend unbosoms freely, advises justly, assists readily, adventures boldly, takes all patiently, defends courageously, and continues a friend unchangeably. ~William Penn

Cajun Music With Tom Rigney & Flambeau Was Next On The Menu
Did You Know? - Tom Rigney, the fiery, electrifying violinist/ composer, joins forces with some of the finest musicians on the San Francisco roots music scene to form Tom Rigney and Flambeau, a band that generates enough heat and energy to ignite a dance floor or lift an audience to its feet. Now into his second decade as the leader of Flambeau, the flamboyant Rigney has leapt dramatically into the spotlight as a performer and as a composer. Flambeau showcases his passionate, virtuoso fiddling, his commanding, charismatic stage presence, his range and originality as a composer, and, of course, those notorious red boots! His bandmates are all longtime veterans of the Bay Area roots music scene and together they have forged a unique sound that blends American Roots styles into something completely original and HOT--a sound that mixes irresistibly infectious grooves with deep musicality, tight ensemble playing, and spectacular solos.
Flambeau specializes in blazing Cajun and zydeco two-steps, low-down blues, funky New Orleans grooves, Boogie Woogie piano, and heartbreakingly beautiful ballads and waltzes. Most of the repertoire is composed by Rigney, but they also mix in a few classics from the Cajun/zydeco/New Orleans songbook. And if, along the way, you pick up a trace of Rigney's Irish roots, or echoes of Eastern Europe or the coast of Spain, it just makes the musical gumbo that much tastier. In recent years Rigney's skills as a composer have broadened and deepened, and he is today writing some of the most evocative and compelling music you will hear anywhere. His violin playing is ferociously virtuosic one minute, and tonally rich and emotionally charged the next. And Rigney's charismatic stage presence, humor, and high-energy showmanship pull the audience into his performances and make them feel that they are a part of the music and the show.
The parasol is out again.... Watch out
Oh oh... She is going wild
Did You Know? - An umbrella or parasol (also called a brolly, rainshade, sunshade, gamp or bumbershoot) is a canopy designed to protect against rain or sunlight. The term parasol usually refers to an item designed to protect from the sun; umbrella refers to a device more suited to protect from rain. Often the difference is the material; some parasols are not waterproof. Parasols are often meant to be fixed to one point and often used with patio tables or other outdoor furniture. Umbrellas are almost exclusively hand-held portable devices; however, parasols can also be hand-held.
The word umbrella comes from the Latin word umbra, meaning shade or shadow (the Latin word, in turn, derives from the Ancient Greek ómbros [όμβρος].) Brolly is a slang word for umbrella, used often in Britain, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, and Kenya. Bumbershoot is a fanciful Americanism from the late 19th century.
A coordinated strut is now taking place in the shade of the umbrella
This is the attack position
and down there it will NOT hold water when it rains
Xylophone anyone?
We were "strutted" by this charming lady
Did You Know? - The xylophone (from the Greek words ξύλον — xylon, "wood" + φωνή —phonē, "sound, voice", meaning "wooden sound") is a musical instrument in the percussion family that consists of wooden bars struck by mallets. Each bar is an idiophone tuned to a pitch of a musical scale, whether pentatonic or heptatonic in the case of many African and Asian instruments, diatonic in many western children's instruments, or chromatic for orchestral use.
The term may be used generally, to include all such instruments, such as the marimba and balafon or, more specifically, to refer to an orchestral instrument of somewhat higher pitch range than the chromatic marimba. It is sometimes mistakenly used of similar lithophones and metallophone instruments of the glockenspiel type such as the pixiphone.

Dad and Daughter living life to the fullest
Don't be dismayed at good-byes. A farewell is necessary before you
can meet again.
And meeting again, after moments or lifetime, is certain for those who are friends. ~Richard Bach
