Off We Go The The First Fair Of The Season

Vicky, Del, Sue and Paul get into the "Gray Ghost" and head for San Diego.  Every summer, thousands of people participate in the San Diego County Fair as vendors, performers, competitive exhibitors, sponsors, employees, and of course, as visitors. In other words, a whole lot of people get involved in the daily activities of the San Diego County Fair.

Some people, both locals and tourists alike, still refer to this annual summer event as the Del Mar Fair. A few years back, the Del Mar Fair was renamed the San Diego County Fair in order to capture all of San Diego County, and not just the lovely coastal City of Del Mar.

This year?s fair celebrates ?Music Mania? and will include music from a wide variety of sources including marching bands to garage bands. In fact, the fair will feature nearly 24,000 performers and entertainers, from nationally known bands to children?s dance troupes. Musicians of all genres and ages will be showcased and appreciated by thousands of people.

Read the menu's carefully!!!!

Did you know? There's a special kind of food treat awaiting those that go to their local county fair. I hadn't realized there was such a think as deep fried twinkies until i saw it at the San Diego County fair a few years ago. What an advanced food concept! Now of course, I have them for breakfast..... Just kidding. If it's unhealthy and a guilty pleasure, it's all there waiting for you at the fair. I believe the reason that some people believe (as oldwirld points out below) that Twinkies increase life span is because of all the preservatives they contain. They don't have a shelf life, they have a half life.

Having already been scheduled to make appearances at county fairs, as well as NFL and NCAA football games across the country this fall, keep your eyes open for Juicy?s BBQ truck to be grilling up tons of barbeque and tailgating food all season long. And don?t forget to bring your appetite.

Off To The Dog Show!

Did You Know? - A Rescue dog is a dog that has been rescued from possible euthanasia in an animal shelter, that has been saved from an abusive or severely neglectful home, or that is simply no longer wanted by its owner.

Many dogs end up in rescues because they were purchased because of what the owner thought they wanted, not because of what the dog would require. Dog Rescue groups take dogs in for a number of reasons. Dogs may have had a owner die and are left with no one to care for them. They may have gotten away from the family while traveling or during a storm. They may have been abandoned intentionally. They may have been turned in for behavioral problems that owners chose to ignore, rather than address properly. They may have been a bad fit for the family or the living quarters. Some people have to relocate overseas, others go into retirement homes who won?t allow pets. There are many reasons for dogs to end up with a rescue group.
