Time To Celebrate The Old Man!
Father's Day was founded in Spokane, Washington at the YMCA in 1910 by Sonora Smart Dodd, who was born in Arkansas. Its first celebration was in the Spokane YMCA on June 19, 1910. Her father, the Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart, was a single parent who raised his six children there.
Today, we celebrate at the Elks with Bob Z, Joe, Bob D., and family, and little ol' us!
There was a mix up someplace and it was probably me. Everyone thought the event at the Elks started at 11:00 am but a careful examination revealed it was really 1:00 pm!
Joe called early in the morning mentioning that they had to leave early, 2:00 pm, because Charlie had a sporting event. When we looked at the invite, everyone was in a tither.
It dawned on my that there was breakfast at the Elks from 9:00 - 12:00 so I suggest Joe and family come early. It was a deal!
It worked out well as it was quiet and we have two hours to talk and visit with little noise!
The boys enjoyed breakfast and we talked about school and many other topics.
What I've learned as a father is that the most important thing in the world is listening. It's not about trying to be right.

Three outstanding magicians from the Magic Castle went to the tables and performed their tricks. These guys were absolute pros. The seven of us were within inches of his when he "transported" card to his feet and into our hands!
Hawk-Eye Nick was amazed!
Nick, Bob, Robin, and Bob Z were spellbound.
Not only was he funny but we was quite a comic keeping us all laughing.
He can't trick is now, we are writing our names on the card!

We talked about retirement and I pulled up my website day counter!

These nice people could not get into the event until we told the Elks that Joe and family would not be coming. Instead of getting a credit, we asked the Elks to give the tickets to someone else who could not get in, J and Michele were the lucky ones. They offered to pay us but Mary and told them, "Pay It Forward" .

With a full tummy, we headed home and the Dud's followed us. We stopped at Aces to have a drink of wine and dance a bit before going home.
Bob won a million dollars in the juke box, he thought it was a slot machine.
Mary suggests to go on vacation NOW!
OK, lets go
We stayed there for an hour nursing a glass of wine and playing dance music. We got another couple to get up and dance and I was asked to dance with one of the bartenders who was NOT on duty, Mary and I kicked up the dust with a waltz swing and some two-stepping'.
We missed Colleen a lot today; we miss her everyday!
We finally got home and walked the garden to make sure the bunny-defense systems we operational. Finally we crashed, it was a good day!
