A Delightful Celebration At Catal (Page One)
We are off and running to Catal in Downtown Disney... A favorite place to dine and meet up with friends and family! In addition to daughter Robin with Bob and Nick, we had the Zaitz family with Cyndy plus "Bad Mike". It's party time!
We met up at the bar first... To get warmed up!
Grandma teaches Nick about the "dunce cap"
Did You Know? - Dunce cap, also variously known as a dunce hat, dunce's cap or dunce's hat, is a pointed hat, formerly used as an article of discipline in schools. In popular culture, it is typically made of paper and often marked with a D or the word "dunce", and given to unruly schoolchildren to wear.
The word “dunce” comes from one Johannes Duns Scotus, a 13th century Franciscan friar, philosopher, theologian and professor at Oxford, Cambridge and Paris, who in his own time was considered a brilliant man. He was born probably in Duns, Berwickshire, Scotland, around 1265.
"Who... Me?"
Grandpa Paul always wears a Dunce Cap!
The proper way is to face the corner of the room!
"Champagne... Breakfast of Champions!"
Mike demonstates how NOT to use a knife and fork!
One disappearing Cuban Sandwich!
Did You Know? - The Cuban Sandwich is thinly shaved porchetta, whole grain mustard aioli, house made pickles, king cut swiss, honey sage jus, catal fries.
As with Cuban bread, the origin of the Cuban sandwich (sometimes called a "Cuban mix," a "mixto," a "Cuban pressed sandwich," or a "Cubano") is murky. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, travel between Cuba and Florida was easy, especially from Key West and Tampa, and Cubans frequently sailed back and forth for employment, pleasure, and family visits. Because of this constant and largely undocumented movement of people, culture and ideas, it is impossible to say exactly when or where the Cuban sandwich originated.
I love when the family all gets together! Always a load of fun!
"Who me? I am behaving... So far!"
Donna is about to share her champagne....
No Mike... That is called garnish... It's plastic!
The worlds biggest hamburger!
Somehow the fries seems to disappear!
"... and he didn't even notice it!!"
Enjoying family and friends!
Now we split up with the Duda's and Liles heading to California Adventure!
However, Bad Mike and the Zaitz will be seen again at the Jam Session
