Avalon Ball May 14th, 2011
Please join the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles for a glorious night of dancing on May 14, 2011 featuring live music from the 1920s and 1930s. Enjoy dancing at the historic Art Deco Avalon Casino Ballroom on beautiful Catalina Island. Dance the Lindy Hop, Balboa, the Charleston, Tango, Foxtrot, the Waltz and much, much, more!
We enjoyed dancing at the historic Art Deco Avalon Casino Ballroom on beautiful Catalina Island -- the same ballroom that played host to Benny Goodman, Glen Miller and many of the greats from the Big Band era.
This year we are eight couples who simply enjoy life, dancing and each other.
We departed Friday afternoon getting to Catalina around 3:00PM and then visited until dinner time when we went to the Avalon Grille .
Saturday we had breakfast at Joe's and then we played golf in the morning (or tried too) and then sipped cocktails and visited until dinne time. We changed for dinner and regrouped on the roof . The dinner was fantastic and we headed for the ballroom to save some seats.
The dance was great .... loads of fun and great costumes and music. Acfter the dance, we returned to the scene of the crime and had a night cap or two.
Sunday morning we headed back to Los Angeles so we could get ready for the Jam Session at the Elks... Dancing is in our blood.
