We lost Scout a year ago and we where missing having a pain in the butt around the house so Mary called Border Collies In Need. We got a call and decided to visit them.
The 90 minute drive was fine and we met the trainer in a park while she was doing a class. We met two doggies one of which we thought would be ours, Rory. It turned our Rory was not all that friendly. When we found Oreo, a little girl, and she was instantly attracted to us and we her!
Sorry Old Boy, you will find a home I am sure!
Oreo was in the crate next to Rory and when we walked her it was love at first site.

She walked well

She sat, layed down, and did other commands with ease!
We decided instantly but there was a catch, they needed to "fix her (I didn't even know she was broken). I called our vet and made an appointment to get her examined and fixed. The trainer heard my call and decided we were responsible enough to all he to go home with us.
Into the Silver Fox she jumped laying down on the soft bed we brought with us. She was a perfect lady all the way home.
She needed a toy so we stopped at Ralph's Market and got a small bag of food and a squeaky pizza!
When we got home it was non-stop; fetch is her favorite game (other than following us around the house!)

She loved her pizza
You can read more about Oreo's daily adventures in the Daily Diary.
We tested her but taking her down the street to a friends house. New people, new house, what would she do??? She was PERFECT. She came in, said "Hi" to Geri and Joanne and then sat on the patio listening to us old people ramble on while sipping wine!

A perfect guest!
It was time for her pre-op checkup and off we went. She sits in the back seat and just takes it all in.

She like the car!
She saw other dogs in the office but didn't make a move nor bark. She just sat and stared at us like she was thinking "What are you guys up too?"

"Hey Dad! What is happening??? What is a rectal thermometer?"
After the vet visit, we dropped her off at the groomer and they were happy to see us. Scout went there for years. Oreo seemed to like the place and went in with out a fuss and came out liking good. She even got one of their signature bandannas to wear!
Of course, as soon as she is groomed, she want to be outside playing fetch!!

I am laying on the patio with an oxygen bottle and she want to play,
She was caught digging in the trash but it was out fault, we three in a Styrofoam plate that had steak juice on it. We now either make sure nothing "smelly" goes into the trash and if the trash is semi-full, we put something heavy on it!!"

She has been known to "relocate" stuff without anyone knowing!!
She was crate trained and as soon as the TV/Living Room lights go off, she heads for bed. She stays in it all night long.

"I love this robe!! I look like Lawrence Of Arabia!"
We play fetch 2-3 times a day!

"Ah come on Dad, higher and faster!"
When she does NOT get to play fetch she turns into a new creature

"FETCH MY BALL.... NOW!!!"

"I am pretty!!"
But first, Oreo likes to read the news.

"Hey I read that is it International Play Fetch With Border Collie Month"
Every morning, after reading the news paper, Oreo comes in and we work in the office and, of course, play fetch the ball! She lays on one of her many beds and watches with interest.

"Watcha doing on that silly computer? You need to throw the ball!!"
Fetch goes on from dawn until dusk!

"What do you mean I smell like a wet dog?
You brought me out here at midnight!"
She needed some supplies so off to Petco we went and she had a great time sniffing everything. She was a perfect lady even when a grouchy old Corgie was barking at her and lunging at her.

"Mommy, just one more isle!"
Dawn to dusk!!! She can catch about 50% of the time in mid-air! It's time for a serious frisbee!!

"Here I come, ready of not!!"

"Ah come on, just one more time!! You like my jammies?"
One morning I got up at 4:30 am when I heard her scratching in the crate. I attempted to let her out and she did NOT want to go outside, she wanted her big bed in the living room. I watched her for a while and finally she gave me "The Oreo Look".

We slept for another two hours before finally getting up!
Oreo likes errands because she gets to see all sorts of new things and get in and out of the car PLUS she gets little rewards like "Puppy Burger" or her favorite "Pup Cup" from Starbucks. A Starbucks Pup Cup is a small serving of whipped cream, usually given to dogs as a treat. It's not an official menu item at every location, so you can ask your barista if they offer one.
When we say go, she dawns her traveling outfit; racing goggles, bandanna, and leather duster!

"Let's go guys!!! I will drive!"
She tried to convince us that "Halloween" translates (in doggie language) into "Continuous Fetching" but we saw through her plan. She looks pretty good in her Super Woman outfit and Paul just looks horny as ever!!

Dressed for Halloween!!
