Star Princess Southbound To Home
After exploring the beautiful port town of Seward, gateway to the Kenai Fjords National Park, we boarded the ship for a 10:00pm departure.
The Star Princess is a Princess Cruises cruise ship. The Star Princess is a sister ship of the Grand Princess and the Golden Princess. An earlier ship of the same name is now operating as the Ocean Village. The Star Princess was built by Fincantieri in Monfalcone, Italy in 2002, and has hull number 6051.
Star Princess Southbound Itinerary
Day 1 June 16th (Sunday) -Cruise the spectacular Prince William Sound , situated at the top of the Gulf of Alaska. Deep within the Sound lies the beautiful College Fjord, home of 16 glaciers named for the Ivy League colleges that sponsored the Harriman Expedition in 1899. Cruise College Fjord 6:30am - 9:30am.
Day 2 June 17th (Monday) - Cruise by the massive tidewater glaciers of Glacier Bay. You’ll have access to 16 calving glaciers in the 3.2 million-acre Glacier Bay National Park. Your experience is completed by an accompanying narration from a Glacier Bay Ranger. Cruise Glacier Bay 10:30am - 8:30pm.
Day 3 June 18th (Tuesday) -Enjoy the quaint town of Skagway , the gateway to the Klondike Gold Rush. Ride the renowned White Pass and Yukon Railroad for a taste of Skagway ’s unique historical flavor, or study the outstanding collection of Gold Rush memorabilia. Port of Call in Skagway 6:30am - 8:00pm.
Day 4 - Skagway (Wednesday) - Time to ride the rails and helicopter around the area.
Day 5 June 19th (Thursday) -Dock in Juneau , Alaska’s state capital, for a day of exploration in the most cosmopolitan city along the Inside Passage. Enjoy Juneau ’s rich history, delightful shopping district, and stunning views of the water and mountains that surround the city. Port of Call in Juneau 6:30am - 4:30pm.
Day 6 June 20th (Friday) -Today, enjoy a port of call in Ketchikan , the ancestral home of the Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian Indian tribes. Consider touring the Saxman Native Village, which features the largest collection of totem poles in the world. Port of Call in Ketchikan 8:30am - 5:45pm.
Day 7 June 21st (Inside Passage) - (Longest day of the year) Listen as Alaska naturalists discuss the marine life native to the waters off the Gulf Coast . Watch for whales, seals, porpoises, sea otters and much more as you cruise the Inside Passage.
Day 8 June 22nd (Sunday) -Your cruise concludes in the cosmopolitan city of Vancouver , where you’ll disembark at approximately 9:00am.
Accommodations Were Excellent
Each suite is actually two self-contained staterooms interconnecting through a large living room which leads to an oversized private balcony. Each suite sleeps up to eight people.
Junior cruisers ages 3 to 17 can enjoy a boatload of exciting onboard activities. Our dedicated youth and teen centers are staffed by trained counselors, who are ready to ensure our young sailors stay happy all day long. There's plenty to do: from arts and crafts to scavenger hunts, pizza parties to disco, sports tournaments to the latest in video games. With specialized activity schedules delivered to staterooms every morning, our junior passengers have all the choice on the seven seas. After all, why should parents have all the fun?
