Did You Know? - A party is a gathering of persons who have been invited by a host for the purposes of socializing, conversation, and recreation. A party will typically feature eating and drinking, and often music and dancing as well. Some parties are held in honor of a specific person, day, or event like a Super Bowl party. Parties of this kind are often called celebrations. 

Did you know? A couch is an upholstered item of furniture for the comfortable seating of more than one person and typically has an armrest on either side. Couches are usually to be found in the family room, living room, den or the lounge. They are covered in a variety of textiles or in leather.

The most common types of couches are the "loveseat"(or British two-seater), the settee or sofa (two or more seats). A sectional sofa (often just referred to as a "sectional") is formed from multiple sections (typically 2 to 4) and usually includes at least two pieces that join at an angle of 90 degrees or slightly greater.  Other couch variants include the divan, the fainting couch (backless or partial-backed), the chaise longue (long with one armrest), the canapé (an ornamental 3-seater), and the ottoman (generally considered a footstool).

Did you know? A taco is a traditional Mexican dish composed of a maize or wheat tortilla folded or rolled around a filling. The fact that a taco can be filled with practically any meat, fish, shellfish, vegetable, cheese or anything that fits on a tortilla, allows for its great versatility and variety. A taco is generally eaten out of hand, without the aid of utensils, and is often accompanied by a garnish such as salsa and often vegetables such as cilantro, onion, cabbage, tomato, or lettuce.

Did you know? A betting pool, sports lottery, sweep or office pool if done at work, is a form of gambling, specifically a variant of pari-mutuel betting influenced by lotteries, where gamblers pay a fixed price into a pool (from which taxes and a house "take" or "vig" are removed), and then make a selection on some outcome, usually related to sport. The pool is evenly divided between those that have made the correct selection. There are no odds involved; each winner's payoff depends simply on the number of gamblers and the number of winners.

In an informal game, the vig is usually quite small or non-existent. (True parimutuel betting, which was historically referred to as pool betting, involves both odds calculations and variable wager amounts.) Contestants predict the outcome of sporting events that take place at a later time. The concept was introduced in 1923 by Littlewoods Pools where it was known as toto. We use jelly beans.

Did you know? Beer is the world's oldest and most widely consumed alcoholic beverage and the third most popular drink overall after water and tea. It is produced by the brewing and fermentation of starches, mainly derived from cereal grains—the most common of which is malted barley, although wheat, maize/corn, and rice are also widely used. Most beer is flavoured with hops, which add bitterness and act as a natural preservative, though other flavourings such as herbs or fruit may occasionally be included. Alcoholic beverages distilled after fermentation or fermented from non-starch sources such as grape juice (wine) or honey (mead) are not classified as beer.

Did you know? Budweiser (Anheuser-Busch) is an American-style lager and is one of the most popular beers in the United States. Budweiser is made with a proportion of rice in addition to hops and barley malt, for which it has received some criticism, though the company takes the position that the rice gives the beer a lighter taste.

Did you know? Juan (xwan) is a Spanish form of the given name John (q.v.). It was the 55th most popular name in the United States as of 2003. Like all of the other cognates in various languages in the John article it is derived from the Hebrew Jehohannon (God is gracious). It is also commonly found in the Isle of Man, where it has a different pronunciation.
