The "Cold War"
See the flash, hide under your tables, turn away from the windows.. made sense then!
Following the conclusion of World War II, technology became an intrinsic part of daily life. With this came a great sense of competition. The US and USSR were in a race for everything! We wanted to be first in everyting! I remember listening toshort wae broadcasts wuth the next five-year plan being announced by the Russians every year. Winning in some area somehow made eveybody believe their political sysem was better than others. At times, this rivalry was a strong one, instigating many other social and political conflicts. These tense years became known as the Cold War.
