On the way to my car, he fell three times.\u00a0 When I get to his house, I help him out of the car, and on the way to the front door, he falls four more times.\u00a0 I rang the bell and said, &#8220;Here&#8217;s your husband!&#8221; The man&#8217;s wife says, &#8220;Where&#8217;s his wheelchair?&#8221;\u00a0 I must be more careful next time!<\/p>\n<p>The Sun is up and so are we!\u00a0 7:30 am should be banned!\u00a0 Today, I have some serious chores that must get done.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Replace the garbage disposal wall switch, and<\/li>\n<li>Install my Christmas and Birthday present to myself (guess what it is?)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I got to thinking about &#8220;time&#8221; and what &#8220;pm &#8220;and &#8220;am&#8221; really mean.\u00a0 In Latin, &#8220;a.m.&#8221; stands for <em>ante meridiem<\/em>.\u00a0 Translated, this means &#8220;before midday.&#8221; The counterpart, &#8220;p.m.,&#8221; stands for <em>post meridiem<\/em>, which, naturally, translates to &#8220;after midday.&#8221; In establishing the timekeeping standards, midday was set to be 12 noon.<\/p>\n<p>To further clarify, it was decided that 00:00, the start of the new day, would be known as 12 midnight.\u00a0 And 12, high noon, would be the transition to the p.m. hours.\u00a0 (Technically, there is no 12 pm because it is not &#8220;post,&#8221; but there is a 12:01 pm) .<\/p>\n<p>To avoid confusion, many say &#8220;midnight&#8221; or &#8220;noon&#8221; instead of the 12 o&#8217;clock times.\u00a0 While context (setting doctors&#8217; appointments, requesting work meetings) usually clarifies whether someone is referring to 3 am or 3 pm, it&#8217;s always helpful to add a quick &#8220;in the morning&#8221;
