In about 1989, I lived in a home in Los Alamitos that had a vaulted ceiling, perfect for a tall Christmas tree!\u00a0 So we selected a twelve-foot tree and brought it home.\u00a0 I laid it in the driveway and hosed it down to get rid of anything dead or organic!\u00a0 The next morning, I took it into the house, and it looked gigantic.<\/p>\n

I worried about it falling over on the baby chihuahuas, so I decided to place a strong hook on the ceiling right through the 6×10″ beam!\u00a0 Then, I tied a wire to the top of the tree and lifted it so it was actually hanging from the floor by 1\/2 an inch.<\/p>\n

No, I did NOT hang it upside down!<\/p>\n

“I am windstorm and earthquake resistant!”<\/p><\/div>\n

Sometimes being an engineer is a good thing!\u00a0 For many years thereafter, I always hung the tree from the ceiling.\u00a0 Even as the grandchildren came and went, I always knew the tree was sturdy and could take punishment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Today we go to the vampire, and I get my blood drawn.\u00a0 Last time I mentioned that I have red crayons at home and I could draw my blood there, but the staff refused my offer.<\/p>\n

I think I was two quarts low after I left the office.<\/p><\/div>\n

We were so hungry since we had not eaten anything since yesterday afternoon that I suggested Benji’s, which was three blocks from the vampires’ office.\u00a0 We had an excellent breakfast and washed it down with Irish coffee.\\Then I remembered, Santa’s breakfast of choice is mistle-“toast”!<\/p>\n

After breakfast, we went home and got ready for the gym appointment at 1:00 pm.\u00a0 We dressed in our matching sweatshirts that my sister-in-law made many years ago (over 10 years!).\u00a0 They look better every year.<\/p>\n

What’s the difference between Santa’s reindeer and a knight?\u00a0 One slays the dragon, and the other’s draggin’ the sleigh.<\/p>\n

Five miles on the stationary bike and an hour of stretching and straining!<\/p><\/div>\n

On the way out, I thought to myself:<\/p>\n

What goes “oh, oh, oh”?\u00a0 Santa walking backwards!<\/p>\n

We did our workout and dragged ourselves home only to find the UPS man juggling a large package toward our door.\u00a0 We intercepted him as he was taking the heavy load away.\u00a0 When we opened the package, it was an assortment of goodies from Oregon, including delicious apples and pears.\u00a0 Dr. Bill sent these to us!<\/p>\n

Mary loved the boxes as much as the contents!!<\/p><\/div>\n

The rest of the afternoon, we attacked the garage, getting it in shape to put The Silver Fox inside.\u00a0 We moved everything to the workshop and drove the car inside.\u00a0 The Silver Fox was happy as he had been outside for the last week!<\/p>\n

We read the Elks flyer for the upcoming Christmas activities, and Mary had an idea that we ought come dressed in a Grinch theme.\u00a0 Obviously, I would be the Grinch, and Mary would be the Fem Fatal.<\/p>\n

We watched TV and finally crashed around 10:00 pm.<\/p>\n
