Breakfast is served!<\/p><\/div>\n

Today was rare; we had nothing planned.\u00a0 The weather was nice in the morning, so we donned our gardening costumes and hit the patio with clippers flashing, carts moving, and greenery flying into the air.<\/p>\n

We trimmed almost every bush, and Mary did her roses, bringing them back to Earth.<\/p>\n

When time is available, we garden!<\/p><\/div>\n

We noticed that some of the pockets in our towering pots were dry.\u00a0 Ah ha, the draining hole was plugged!\u00a0 Using some heavy wire (larger in diameter than a coat hanger), I fashioned a “hole poker” with a handle and went around each pocket, shoving the tip of the tool in.\u00a0 All of a sudden, everything is getting watered like it used to be!<\/p>\n

Now we have the tool!\u00a0 Problem solved!<\/p><\/div>\n

We cleaned out the strawberry runners, which were overgrown and spreading all over this planter.<\/p>\n

Strawberry runners, also known as stolons, are stem-like structures that grow horizontally from the mother plant and develop into new daughter plants.\u00a0 These runners are a form of vegetative reproduction, allowing strawberries to spread and reproduce efficiently.\u00a0 While they help expand the strawberry patch, excessive runners can divert energy from fruit production and lead to overcrowding.<\/div>\n

The Rosemary has had a significant haircut and is now down to a manageable size, and it is away from the roses.<\/p>\n

All weeds and overgrowth cleaned out.\u00a0 The Azalias and other plants can now be seen!<\/p>\n

I went back over the right-hand side of the patio and pulled the celery, cleaned the drain holes in the second upright pot, and removed weeds.<\/p>\n

We filled Mary’s gardening cart twice!<\/p>\n

Time to sweep up the mess.<\/p><\/div>\n

During the heat of the afternoon, Chef Mary was in the kitchen making a lovely breakfast of fruit and peanut butter toast.<\/p>\n

After that, we went shopping in the garden and came back with enough tomatoes to make another Tomato Pie, YUMMY!\u00a0 Some of this has to be delivered to Johnm, the General Manager of the Elks Lodge,<\/p>\n

Mary makes tomato pie.<\/p><\/div>\n

The Basil was just picked moments ago, and when chopped up, the house smelled like Basil; a pleasant smell of summer.<\/p>\n

Layer upon layer, the pie came to life.<\/p>\n

The tomatoes were perfect.<\/p><\/div>\n

A layer of tomatoes followed by a layer of Basic, a layer of chopped onions and sweet peppers, and a layer of bacon bits and seasoning was repeated three times!<\/p>\n

Now it’s time for the oven to bring all the flavors together.<\/p>\n

We headed to Jeff’s at 6:00 pm with tomato pie and Mary’s S’More Cookies.\u00a0 We visited Jeff for a while before returning home around 8:00 pm.<\/p>\n

We crashed and talked about the day.\u00a0 We decided the image below fits both of us to a T.<\/p>\n
