Room service has arrived.<\/p><\/div>\n

Mexican Adventure: Day 1<\/a> – Day 2<\/a> – Day 3<\/a> – Day 4<\/a> – Day 5<\/a> – Day 6<\/a> – Day 7<\/a> – Day 8<\/a><\/div>\n

We were up early today to prepare for our cooking class. Since there were no tenders to deal with, we walked off the ship and caught a bus to the hotel.\u00a0 It was a short drive down the shoreline.<\/p>\n

The entrance was quite impressive!<\/p><\/div>\n

We walked through the lobby into a large open-air room adjacent to the pool.\u00a0 A table full of margaritas greeted us!<\/p>\n

\"\"

We were greeted with unlimited margaritas!<\/p><\/div>\n

We examined the table but were warned about the heat from the serrano pepper. I took one bite while the girls screamed at me; it was no hotter than a jalapeno!! The serrano pepper is a type of chili pepper that originated in the mountainous regions of the Mexican states of Puebla and Hidalgo. Its Scoville rating is 10,000 to 25,000. The pepper’s name refers to the mountains of these regions. It is commonly used to make hot sauces.<\/p>\n

Oh my, we are making salsa.<\/p><\/div>\n

It’s time to make salsa\u2014or should I say magic?\u00a0 The surgeon went to work. I chopped, and she used a mortar and pestle to mash the ingredients into what looked like salsa. A mortar and pestle is a kitchen tool used to grind, smash, and mix ingredients. It’s a versatile tool that can be used for many cooking tasks, including making marinades, sauces, and spice blends.<\/p>\n

She is about to use her magic.<\/p><\/div>\n

Each table had to vote on who would be the table captain and whose job it was to keep the table under control after all the margaritas were downed.\u00a0 I was voted in and had to wear a blue hat!<\/p>\n

\"\"

I was voted “Table Captain.”<\/p><\/div>\n

They made the mistake of asking if any table captains knew how to dance, so I performed my best and showed my best side.<\/p>\n

\"\"

Get, um, big boy.\u00a0 Mary ran up and put a dollar in my waistband!\u00a0 She also asked for change!<\/p><\/div>\n

They needed volunteers, and the selection was based on how close your anniversary was! Jon and Sarah won and provided a great demonstration.<\/p>\n

\"\"

Dang, they look good.<\/p><\/div>\n

They said it is so easy to make margaritas, but you can do it blindfolded.<\/p>\n

\"\"

This could be a problem.<\/p><\/div>\n

During our visit, we made five different salsas. It was quite easy, and we bought their cookbook so we could make them at home. No more “out-of-the-jar” salsa for Senior and Senior Liles!<\/p>\n

We lost count of the number of margaritas we downed!<\/p><\/div>\n

Jon tried the hot peppers and agreed that they were not hot.<\/p>\n

\"\"

Go, Jon, Go!<\/p><\/div>\n

We departed the Royal Villa<\/a> Hotel around 2:45 pm.<\/p>\n

The hotel was quite nice.<\/p><\/div>\n

The kids were watching out for us all day to ensure Mary did not get into trouble.\u00a0 I, on the other hand, am a lost cause!\u00a0 I have decided my middle name is “Trouble.”<\/p>\n

The dancers all yelled, “Jon!!!”<\/p><\/div>\n

We walked through a shopping area, and Mary found some treasures.<\/p>\n

\"\"

Going home!<\/p><\/div>\n

We could see our stateroom on the tenth floor.<\/p>\n

\"\"

We could see our room.<\/p><\/div>\n

Mary and I headed for the suite lounge and met up with a new friend.\u00a0 We drank wine and saki for the rest of the afternoon.<\/p>\n

It was time for dinner, and we were having\u00a0 “Dinner With The Chef”! We got to meet the chef who prepared each course, and we also made new friends.<\/p>\n

Mary counted the glasses and got worried.<\/p><\/div>\n

Oh my!\u00a0 There were a lot of glasses we had to dirty before dinner was over. Hic!!<\/p>\n

\"\"

Wine with every course, including dessert.<\/p><\/div>\n

The kids are not kids, only in our eyes!\u00a0 They were delightful dinner partners and great conversationalists with everyone around the table.<\/p>\n

\"\"

They were on their best behavior.<\/p><\/div>\n

Each course was like a display of modern art.<\/p>\n

\"\"

Each course was beautiful and delicious.<\/p><\/div>\n

When dinner was over, everyone was done for the day. We then flew VFR to our stateroom and crashed! It was another fantastic day in Mexico.<\/p>\n
