This morning, we had a minor miracle: Mary was up and moving before me! I was still tired from getting up at o-dark thirty yesterday for blood tests and X-rays!<\/p>\n

When I arrived at the office, my coffee was still steaming on the desk; Mary took good care of me. We worked in the office until about 11:00 am, with Mary cleaning up old emails from years ago, and I worked on our next adventure.\u00a0 We are taking Jon and Sarah to Mexico in February 2025 for a seven-day cruise; it is time to get together and get to know each other!!<\/p>\n

Only 84 days away!<\/p><\/div>\n

We spent the afternoon in the garden, just puttering around, sprucing things up for Thanksgiving, and preparing for the upcoming rainstorm. Checking the forecast at 4:00 p.m. today indicated that the prediction was trailing off; we are not at 30%.<\/p>\n

I worked in the berry patch, trimming the vines and reconfiguring the supporting wires, which needed tightening up.<\/p>\n

Looks pretty bare!<\/p><\/div>\n

Our marigolds are doing well; we have them to keep the pesky bugs away!<\/p>\n

\"\"

They are bright and cheery!<\/p><\/div>\n

The last peppers hang out in the garden, waiting for their big moment to shine in one of Mary\u2019s delightful dinners. They\u2019re practically strutting their stuff in the afternoon sun, like auditioning for a cooking show! \u201cPick me, pick me!\u201d they seem to shout, but let\u2019s be honest\u2014they\u2019re probably just hoping to avoid ending up as a sad salad garnish!<\/p>\n

What color you say? Fire-Engine Red!!<\/p><\/div>\n

We continued messing around until 4:00 p.m. when we had to prepare for the Linda Ronstadt show at the Elks, complete with The Eagles. We are going with the gang, so it should be fun!<\/p>\n

When we arrived, the gang was right up front, adjacent to the speakers; oh, oh!<\/p>\n

Time to dance!<\/p><\/div>\n

We huddled in the corner with a great view of the dance floor, trying to decipher whether the moves we witnessed were dance steps or an advanced form of interpretive spasms. It was like watching a live musical version of “Survivor. ” We were just waiting for someone to get voted off for stepping on too many toes!<\/p>\n

At first, the sound was all right, but then they found their volume control!<\/p><\/div>\n

Mary had one of the only 70s-dressed ladies there!<\/p>\n

All smiles!<\/p><\/div>\n

The monkeys are named according to the original proverb. Mizaru covers his eyes, seeing no evil; Kikazaru covers his ears, hearing no evil; and Iwazaru covers his mouth, speaking no evil.<\/p>\n

Which one is which?.<\/p><\/div>\n

When the volume increased to a painful p[point, Vicky got creative and made sound adaptors from the water glasses.\u00a0 They worked fine, and we suggested using super glue along the rims!<\/p>\n

Vicky has new hearing aids.<\/p><\/div>\n

We again asked what they thought about the sound level, and we got the same answer,<\/p>\n

The three monkeys!<\/p><\/div>\n

Solution: We moved away from the speakers. Donna and Bob stayed, but we moved to the next room and into the far corner. We could still hear the band, but we could communicate with each other, and Jim’s teeth stopped rattling!<\/p>\n
