We were up and going so early that we drove by the rooster’s house and honked the horn to wake him up!\u00a0 We were checked into the same-day surgery facility at 8:30 am.\u00a0 The hospital was right across from the Newport Bay Elks Lodge.<\/p>\n

Scput was tired this morning and did not want to get up but finally he moved his carcass from the bedroom o the patio!<\/p>\n

“S-h-h-h-h-h, I am sleeping”<\/p><\/div>\n

The waiting room was delightful affording us a swell view of the ships moored on the bay.\u00a0 When we arrived the outside temperature was 65 degrees.<\/p>\n

8:30 am and is was hazy down on the bay.<\/p><\/div>\n

They prepped me meaning loosing my shirt and putting on the hospital gown,\u00a0 \u00a0I loved my new bonnet and t thought about wearing ti tot he Elks, not!<\/p>\n

Ready to go<\/p><\/div>\n

I brought my own personal doctor.\u00a0 Mary has performed this operation hundreds of times over her lifetime; she wasn’t worried at all!<\/p>\n

Checking everything twice.<\/p><\/div>\n

Dr Kline came by for a few minutes; Mary sold her practice to him and they have been friends for years.\u00a0 He is a delightful guy!<\/p>\n

I got ten squirts of meds for the eyes before the procedure.<\/p><\/div>\n

Finally, the IV which I asked if it could be left in after I leave.\u00a0 It makes having a drink much easier.\u00a0 The upside is I do not splash on myself; the downside iS I can’t taste it1<\/p>\n

IV is inserted; OUCH!<\/p><\/div>\n

One more little squirt!\u00a0 The doctor is marking the eye to assist in aligning p the various tools he will be using.<\/p>\n

Dr Kline makes sure I am dilated!<\/p><\/div>\n

We were out of surgery and on our way to the elks at 11:00 am, where we met up with Vicky and Bill Capps.\u00a0 Vicky gave us a book on old 1940s nightclubs, which I will make into a video to show at the upcoming Starlighters dance this Sunday,<\/p>\n

We got a call from the Armstrongs on our way to the Elks; their present arrived so now we can talk via the TV.<\/p>\n

FAce to face communication can be frightening!<\/p><\/div>\n

We were out by 10:00 am with a new set of eyes.\u00a0 Since the Elks was nearby, we had lunch there with Bill Capps and Vicky.\u00a0 I must admit, I was kind of out of it and dosed off towards the end of lunch, feeling no pain!\u00a0 Vicky gave us books on nightclubs on the 1940s so we can make a video presentation to use during the dance coming up.<\/p>\n

We had a quick dinner and then went to Jan’s house for a short visit.\u00a0 She will be joining us Sunday at the Starlighters to make up for Mother’s Day; everyone will be happy to see her!<\/p>\n

Returning home, we crashed since we have to be up and in the doctor’s office at\u00a0 7:00 am for the post-operative checkout.\u00a0 For the next several days, I am out of operation since I cannot lift anything over five pounds, nor can I bend over; I am pretty much a couch potato.<\/p>\n
