she saw art everywhere, not just paintings.\u00a0 When we were in Arkansas one summer, she visited an antique store, her favorite place to haunt.\u00a0 She picked up an old wall-mounted telephone pre-dialing days (roughly 1910) when you had to turn a crank and generate electrical signals to send to the operator if they were on duty.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_69332\" style=\"width: 438px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-69332\" class=\"wp-image-69332 \" src=\"http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2023\/05\/2023-05015-001-e1684161894973-650x970.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"428\" height=\"639\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2023\/05\/2023-05015-001-e1684161894973-650x970.jpg 650w, https:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2023\/05\/2023-05015-001-e1684161894973-101x150.jpg 101w, https:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2023\/05\/2023-05015-001-e1684161894973.jpg 665w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 428px) 100vw, 428px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-69332\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Turning the crank generated over 100 volts of electricity!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>So, Mom brings this back to California and guts the insides.\u00a0 I saw the generator and globbed onto it immediately; I was in Junior High School, so this was about 1955.<\/p>\n<p>Mom stuffed an old Packhard-Bell desktop radio into the phone, and I assisted her in making the volume and tuner accessible from outside the phone.\u00a0 Mom had her wish; she placed it in the breakfast room on Comey Avenue, and everyone visiting thought it was beautiful!<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, I had a generator to experiment with.\u00a0 I first put electrodes in the ground and turned the crank, driving the redworms up and out of the ground.\u00a0 Then, I had another idea &#8212; I would take it to school.\u00a0 Monday morning, I went to school early and wired the doors to the gym to the generator using the thinnest wire I could find, probably 30 gauge.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_69349\" style=\"width: 413px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-69349\" class=\"wp-image-69349 \" src=\"http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2023\/05\/2023-05-15-008.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"403\" height=\"302\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2023\/05\/2023-05-15-008.jpg 500w, https:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2023\/05\/2023-05-15-008-150x113.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 403px) 100vw, 403px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-69349\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The magnets made it very heavy!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>When the coach came in and reached for the handle, I turned the crank as fast as I could, and he jumped six feet in the air.\u00a0 I was in trouble again!\u00a0 Off to the Boys VP, Richard Nida, and I got a stern lecture and a swat across the butt.\u00a0 The generator was never used for electrocuting people again!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">PT bright and early; It&#8217;s a great way to reduce food waste and have delicious homemade broth ready whenever needed.<\/div>\n<p>The sweetpeas are just amazing!\u00a0 While Mary picks them, you can hear her whistling, &#8220;Thistle while you work.&#8221;
