Up early, as usual.\u00a0 I fixed coffee for us and attempted to register for the Hawaiian Eye Meeting for 2024.\u00a0 After the third time, I tried calling the help desk.\u00a0 I got a “3D Secure required flag must be boolean” error….whatever that is.\u00a0 The administrator, Julie, tried two more times, and we gave up.\u00a0 Now we will try when IT wakes up..whenever that is.<\/p>\n

We blew off the frustration by wandering the garden and pulling weeds.\u00a0 We passed by the nasturtiums, which we may put in tonight’s salad.<\/p>\n

Did You Know?<\/strong> The flowers are a good source of Vitamin C and iron. The seeds were used for a substitute for pepper during World War II. The name nasturtium means \u201cnose twister\u201d in Latin, referring to people’s reaction upon tasting the flowers. The nasturtium is the 40th Wedding Anniversary flower.<\/div>\n

The next stop on the walk were “Donna’s” gladiolas.<\/p>\n

We finally made it to the border of the garden where the blueberries grow.\u00a0 Paul fed me the ripest, sweetest ones because he is the sweetest one. A single blueberry bush can produce as many as 6,000 blueberries per year.<\/p>\n

The bushes are loaded. Only one month before they are really ready to go.<\/p><\/div>\n

I admired my work from the previous days.\u00a0 No weeds in sight.\u00a0 My little dear is supervising.\u00a0 We have a Lilly waiting for Carlos to dig a big hole.\u00a0 I don’t like Paul to work too hard.<\/p>\n

Our Santa Rosa plum tree, a stray tomato that leaped out of the garden, and a wanna-be sunflower.<\/p><\/div>\n

It keeps threatening to rain. But the clouds were beautiful.<\/p>\n

Storm clouds are gathering!<\/p><\/div>\n

The wash is running, and another load is drying, so it’s time to wash us too.\u00a0 Since it is Thursday, we are off to “Girl’s Night Out” for lunch.<\/p>\n

We picked sweetpea flowers for the girls at the front desk and for Karen, our server at the Elks.<\/p>\n

Ronnie came by to congratulate us!\u00a0 It was Ronnie’s birthday yesterday.<\/p>\n

Beverly brought us a congrats card, and our waitress made up a little dessert complete with a candle.<\/p>\n

Desert, mmmm. No wonder I gain 5 pounds when I go on a diet.<\/p><\/div>\n

It is also “Hat Day” on Thursdays. Normally hats are reserved for a bad hair day.<\/p><\/div>\n

We are looking forward to Sydney joining us for lunch; she and her dad did join us.<\/p>\n

Sydney has been my good friend for many years and sometimes joins us. She is also the greatest realtor around.<\/p><\/div>\n

We came home, and a nap was required (we are retired), and we whizzed off to our favorite Home Depot to squeeze a little more color into the front yard.<\/p>\n

Where do the new flowers go?<\/p><\/div>\n

Tomorrow they will be planted if it does not rain too hard.<\/p>\n

Ready for Carlos to plant tomorrow morning.\u00a0 There is Pinky and Blue Boy!<\/p><\/div>\n

Work?\u00a0 Do I have to work?\u00a0 Tote that barge, life that bail!<\/p>\n

Busy working!<\/p><\/div>\n

We headed inside as the clouds were passing overhead, and we got a few drops of moisture as a warning of what was to come.<\/p>\n

The rain seems to want to return.<\/p><\/div>\n

Enough of this working stuff!\u00a0 I need to go back to work to rest up from this retirement gig.\u00a0 I fixed a pot of beans and just realized what “chili con carne” means…Spanish for “with meat”….mmm, lunch for tomorrow.\u00a0 But I do make “white girl” chili.\u00a0 Paul always adds hot sauce.\u00a0 So I don’t feel guilty just sitting and watching a movie. I made dinner and folded the laundry.\u00a0 We didn’t miss much when taking a break.\u00a0 Very little plot.\u00a0 Mostly a lot of grunting, shooting, and killing.<\/p>\n
