Participation medals (and trophies) really did ruin our society!!! General Eisenhower versus General<\/span><\/span><\/span> Mark A. Milley; there is no comparison!<\/p><\/div>\n

The sun was working hard to cut through this morning’s layer of fog, but it finally did it at about 8:00 am.\u00a0 \u00a0We walked in the garden and decided what we would attempt to do Monday; today is a day of rest!<\/p>\n

The front yard is looking up; Mary spotted two of our Zgigantic Sunflowers, which were sprouting.\u00a0 They will be spectacular in another 60 days.\u00a0 Sunflowers generally require a lot of direct sunlight to grow, and a minimum of six to eight hours of full sun is needed.\u00a0 Choosing a plot with minimal obstructions or shade on the east and west is ideal for a full day of sunlight, as timing is essential for sunflowers to thrive.\u00a0 Our front yard is perfect for growing these babies.<\/p>\n

Mammoth sunflowers can grow up to 14 ft (4.26 m) with lovely flowers.<\/p>\n

The new maples seem to be adjusting just fine.<\/p><\/div>\n

When we planted “Old Boney,” we thought we had a red maple, but the stems and trunk turn red in fall; everything else is green.\u00a0 I was going to chop it down, but Dr. Mary came to his rescue.\u00a0 I can hear her now, “Don’t hurt my babies!”<\/p>\n

How do trees access the internet?\u00a0\u00a0They log in.<\/em><\/p>\n

Which side of a tree has the most leaves?\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>The outside.<\/em><\/p>\n

We worked in the office the rest of the morning and afternoon.\u00a0 Mary set up files on our plans, including the cruises to Mexico, Hawaii, and Panama Canal.\u00a0 She also organized future dances and visits to the Segerstrom Theater and Huntington Gardens.\u00a0 We are also planning for a visit to Colleen and a trip to Ireland and England in Spring of 2024.<\/p>\n

We determined that we have three minutes free on the first Tuesday in August; otherwise, we are busy all summer long.<\/p>\n

Dianne and David came over around 2:00 pm, and we did the garden tour.\u00a0 We sat and talked for a while before they departed.<\/p>\n

We got ready to go to the dance at Marcin’s Studio-M in Chino.\u00a0 He is closing the business due to the extremely high rents, but Marcin and his family will stay close as they are Elks and have joined Starlighters.<\/p>\n

Rebecca and Marcin are excellent instructors.<\/p><\/div>\n

At the beginning of COVID, there was no place to dance, but Marcin came to our rescue.\u00a0 He opened the studio to a private, select group on Saturday evenings, and we danced for hours on a marvelous floor to great music.<\/p>\n

Entering took a secret knock; it was like a speakeasy of the 1930s.<\/p><\/div>\n

Mike and Bridgette danced the night away.<\/p>\n

Mike and Bridgette show us how it is supposed to be done!<\/p><\/div>\n

Marcin played all kinds of “ballroom” music; he did a lot of waltzes for Mary and I.\u00a0 Mary was doing the line dance; I stayed at the table as my right knee was acting up!<\/p>\n

I will take some line dancing classes as I forgot most of what I knew!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"

Go, Mary, Go!<\/p><\/div>\n

Marcin provided a fantastic Chinese buffet for all of us, and we enjoyed it; I went back twice even though I knew my weight would be 195 in the morning.\u00a0 \u00a0The Kung-Pow Chicken was very spicy, so it was all mine; I was the only spice-head.<\/p>\n

Before the announcements, regular lights were turned on so the cameras could take good pictures.\u00a0 My favorite subject was right next to me.<\/p>\n

I had the best seat in the house.<\/p><\/div>\n

Donna and Bob danced the entire evening.\u00a0 Donna is checking to ensure her beard is not showing; she gets it from kissing her hubby!<\/p>\n

Great friends and beautiful times.<\/p><\/div>\n

Marcin did a speech recanting the eight years of Studio-M’s operations.\u00a0 We like our group, as through COVID, we assisted in keeping the business open.\u00a0 We were the only dancers brave enough to face COVID; we knew each other and trusted that we were cautious.<\/p>\n

Marcin gave a “Goodbye Speech” remembering these past two COVID Years.<\/p><\/div>\n

We listened to Marcon’s kind words and fond memories.<\/p>\n

The house was packed.<\/p><\/div>\n

The group assembled, and I took the picture.\u00a0 I tried to make it so I would appear in the mirror behind the group, but my aim was not great!<\/p>\n

We love our dancing friends!<\/p><\/div>\n

We departed around 9:00 pm, taking Precious home and putting her to bed in the warm garage.\u00a0 She likes being out and about.<\/p>\n

She purred like a kitten while screaming down the freeway!<\/p><\/div>\n

We hit the sack when we got home; we have PT at 9:00 am tomorrow.\u00a0 Mary wanted to put an icepack on my knee, so I hid from her.\u00a0 I was deep inside her walk-around closed when I spotted her entering with a flashlight.\u00a0 I jumped out and yelled, “Boo!”.\u00a0 \u00a0 That was a big mistake.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
