Damn it stung but, it worked!!<\/p><\/div>\n

I usually check my incoming messages every morning, and today was no exception.\u00a0 However, I got a great note: Charlie went on a “date” to a school dance.\u00a0 I am getting old!<\/p>\n

He, like his dad and granddad, has excellent taste!<\/p><\/div>\n

We walked in the garden because it was not raining.\u00a0 With our cups of coffee in hand, we braved the yard.\u00a0 The garden looked fantastic; the little plants love the rainy weather and are growing well.<\/p>\n

The clouds we threatening but not directly over our heads!<\/p><\/div>\n

I wanted to take pictures, but Mary’s hairdo was not ready for prime time.\u00a0 She is a very clever lady and hid her head in a shopping bag as we walked the garden.\u00a0 I promised NOT to take any photos as I did not want her to fall down and go boom.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in the garden, the fava beans were growing wild.\u00a0 Fava beans are incredibly nutritious and an excellent source of soluble fiber, protein, folate, manganese, copper, and several other micronutrients.<\/p>\n

Fava beans are often described as having a nutty and buttery flavor and a creamy and silky texture once cooked, but some people may pick up on hints of bitterness.\u00a0 Dried fava beans tend to be milder in flavor and are often compared to chickpeas.<\/p>\n

Why did the bean sell his car? The back seat didn\u2019t have enough legume.<\/p>\n

The blossoms are all going to be fava beans in another four weeks!<\/p><\/div>\n

We have recipes we want to try.\u00a0 Quickly grill whole fava beans toss them with a crushed red pepper dressing, and serve them hot.\u00a0 They can be eaten whole\u2014the tender pods develop a lovely charred flavor on the grill\u2014but it’s also easy to eat them traditionally by popping the beans out of their pods and outer skins.<\/p>\n

They look great; we are waiting to harvest our own!<\/p><\/div>\n

The rest of the day, we stayed inside and watched movies.\u00a0 Mary is still trying to shake a cold.\u00a0 \u00a0Around 5:00 pm, I went to Home Depot to get a new tarp for the garden swing.\u00a0 \u00a0Mary made dinner with our turkey soup and cornbread.<\/p>\n

We finally hit the sack after watching four episodes of “New Amsterdam.”\u00a0 Tomorrow we expect more rain, and our decorators are coming over at 9:00 am.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
