We were up early and turned on the heat; it was 43 degrees outside.\u00a0 Silly Scout wanted out, so I opened the door, and he departed like a rocket.\u00a0 I sliced up an orange, and he was with his nose to the window, saying, “Let me in!”<\/p>\n
We walked the garden and have a plan of attack for tomorrow, Friday, as it is an open day!\u00a0 No doctors!<\/p>\n

All the cauliflower is gone now; time to tear up the bed and get ready for tomatoes!<\/p><\/div>\n
We went to Girls’ Night Out and met up with the regulars, plus Irene and her daughter Maria joined us.\u00a0 Bill and Bob, plus Will and Iris, made for a delightful gathering.\u00a0 George sat next to Maria, and they hit it off.<\/p>\n
On the way, Mary made reservations for ten people at the next five upcoming dances.\u00a0 We asked for the tables in the back because they have comfy chairs, AND they are next to the bar, duh!<\/p>\n
The Elks’ food is difficult to believe; I’d MUCH prefer to go to the Elks for a meal than any fancy restaurant in town,<\/p>\n

They had capellini with baby shrimp; it was the best I have ever had.<\/p><\/div>\n
After seeing this beautiful capellini, I thought, what do you call a noodle that doesn’t drink?\u00a0 \u00a0Then I solved the riddle,\u00a0 Soba.<\/p>\n
The shrimp was excellent, which reminded me of the time I was in the bar, and a couple of shrimp was at the bar next to me, eating a bowl of fries.\u00a0 \u00a0I went to ask if I could have one, but the bartender stopped me. “Don’t bother,” he said.\u00a0 “They won’t share.\u00a0 They’re two shellfish.”<\/p>\n
The swordfish was on the special, and I was going for that until Mary decided she wanted it also.\u00a0 So I changed, and we shared an excellent idea.<\/p>\n

Mary shared her swordfish with me.<\/p><\/div>\n
Maria came down for a few days and is going back to Oregon Friday.\u00a0 Irene is doing quite well, so I will have to tell Scout; Irene is Scout’s babysitter when we go out of town.<\/p>\n

Bill is the treasurer of the Elks and is a fantastic guy.\u00a0 We laugh a lot, and he ensures we get our desired seats at the lodge.\u00a0 His wife is also a Mary and is a kick to be with when we are out and about.\u00a0 \u00a0We will see them Saturday evening,<\/p>\n

Bill said e is so old that he gets nostalgic when he sees the Neolithic cave paintings.<\/p>\n
Bob got caught at work and was a little late today; Iris is 97 and is a kick; up to date on the latest and loves verbal exchanges.\u00a0 I got some excellent material from her.\u00a0 Will was interested in our new hearing aids; he is an audiophile.<\/p>\n

We were covered head to toe as it was 57 degrees outside when we came inside; I should have worn my hat today!<\/p>\n

Just little ol’ us<\/p><\/div>\n
We departed at 2:30 PM and headed to Laguna Hills to consult with a vascular surgeon about my upcoming procedure.\u00a0 We got a “don’t do it” message until you have exhausted all other options.\u00a0 Dr, Tang was excellent; we both like him.\u00a0 He was funny saying, “I make money doing these operations, but I would not do yours until you talk to your cardiologist seriously about other options.”<\/p>\n
I always feel better when my doctor says something is normal for my age, but then I think dying will also be normal for my age at some point.<\/p>\n
We returned home via the 405 to Jambaoree and made it before dark.\u00a0 Mary whipped up dinner, and we watched the last episode of “Shooter” and then watched an excellent feel-good romantic movie.\u00a0 That was needed as we had two days of blood and guys with the Shooter.<\/p>\n
