Another dry day in SoCal!\u00a0 We were up early, and Colleen was up even earlier as she had a hair appointment at 7:30 am in Tustin.\u00a0 While she was out, Mary and I walked the garden and decided which trees we would plant next month.\u00a0 A delicious red apple and a Santa Rosa plum are on the list.<\/p>\n

How do you make an apple turnover?\u00a0 Push it down a hill.<\/p>\n

The Red Delicious is widely grown because of its delicious flavor, fast and easy growth, and adaptability to various soil types.<\/p><\/div>\n

We plan to ask Carlos to find these guys and plant them behind the garden between the garden and the trees at the back of the property.<\/p>\n

Adaptable to most soil types and are self-fertile… cross-pollination is not necessary but will increase fruit production when a second plum tree is planted nearby.<\/p><\/div>\n

A duck walks into a bar and asks, “Got any plums?” <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Confused, the bartender tells the duck that his bar doesn’t serve plums.\u00a0 The duck thanks him and leaves. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The next day, the duck returns and says, “Got any plums?” Again, the bartender tells him that, no, the bar does not serve plums, has never served plums, and, furthermore, will never serve plums.\u00a0 The duck, a little ruffled, thanks him and leaves. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The next day, the duck returns, but before he can say anything, the bartender yells: “Listen duck!\u00a0 This is a bar!\u00a0 We do not serve plums!\u00a0 If you ever ask for plums again, I will nail your stupid duck beak to the bar!” <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The duck is silent for a moment and then asks, “Got any nails?” Confused, the bartender says no. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

“Good!” says the duck.\u00a0 “Got any plums?”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

We drove to Long Beach Memorial Hospital and visited Irene, who had some medical issues, and she was doing just fine.\u00a0 We returned home via Ralph’s market to get some last-minute goodies for the garden stirfry Mary was going to prepare this evening.<\/p>\n

I was a bit embarrassed when I went in and accidentally flashed this lady (I forgot my suspenders).\u00a0 Hey, at least she called me “young man!”<\/p>\n

Returning home, we picked cauliflower, mustard greens, kale, and other goodies from the garden, and Mary when to town and added to that big hunks of chicken.\u00a0 We had a meal fit for a king.<\/p>\n

While dining, we watched “Dog Gone.”\u00a0 Based on the true story of a father and son who repair their fractured relationship during a forced hike on the Appalachian trail to find their beloved lost dog.<\/p>\n
