Fact:\u00a0 For each minute of the day, 1 billion tonnes of rain falls on the Earth.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The guys were here early today, attempting to beat the heat!<\/p>\n

We put the fan\/mister on the wall where the construction is underway today so Gary and the crew would stay cool.\u00a0 The system works well; it shot a stream of mist almost 30 feet across the new garden!<\/p>\n

The 95-degree day all of a sudden got bearable.<\/p><\/div>\n

Gary said he would be done in about two weeks, so we are researching soil for the beds now.<\/p>\n

The walls are all up, but we need to reinforce the walls by pumping concrete down inside the walls since they are, in essence, retaining walls.<\/p>\n

The retaining walls are almost done!<\/p><\/div>\n

At the top of the beds, the height will be three total blocks.\u00a0 Because of the yard’s slope, the height at the back of the bed will be eight inches lower.\u00a0 This height difference means Mary will tend the front of the beds, and I will tend the back.<\/p>\n

Scout gives his approval.\u00a0 He wants to know what he will get to tend; I told him about the fruit trees and grape vines.<\/p>\n

In two weeks, these will be loaded with soil and veggies.<\/p><\/div>\n

The holes will be force-fed a wet concrete slurry so that it will run down inside the bricks easily, and when dried, the walls will be solid and will not move.\u00a0 They could be used for a bomb shelter if needed!<\/p>\n

In two weeks, I will aim for a mix of 30% compost, 60% topsoil, and 10% potting soil and fill these beds almost to the top; that means about 45 yards of soil!<\/p>\n

Did You Know?\u00a0 <\/strong>True potting soil is actually “soil-less.” Topsoil is for planting in the ground, and potting soil is for growing in containers.\u00a0 Topsoil is sand or clay (ground-up rocks) mixed with organic materials such as compost.\u00a0 Potting soil is a mixture of peat moss and other organic materials such as composted sawdust.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Thursday, a pumper truck and a cement mixer will be here to fill in the holes.<\/p><\/div>\n

We finished Mrs. Maisel and are awaiting season five, which is coming in late 2022 or early 2023.<\/p>\n

I was going to wake up early to go jogging, but my toes voted against me 10 to 1.\u00a0 Maybe my toes knew that we had a 4:00 PM gym appointment?<\/p>\n

We departed for the gym at 3:30 AM.\u00a0 The hour’s exercises are perfect for us as all of our muscles hurt afterward.\u00a0 \u00a0The pain goes away as we drive home, and by the time we reach our destination, it is time for a chocolate Sunday and a nap!<\/p>\n

We take different streets to avoid the schools; schools can foul up traffic in amazing ways.<\/p>\n

Mary often sings while she exercises.\u00a0 I can hear singing, “One little two little three little calories, four little five little six little calories, seven little eight little nice little calories, ten little calories gone!<\/em><\/p>\n

Well, as you know from the laws of physics, matter cannot be destroyed, so those ten little calories run across the gym and jump on me!\u00a0 The more I exercise, the more I weigh.<\/p>\n

We work out twice a week!<\/p><\/div>\n

After an hour, I thought pushing eighty was exercise enough!<\/p>\n

After returning home. Mary was fiddling in the kitchen and came up with a modified zoodle recipe using tuna in the spaghetti sauce; I had never heard of such a thing, but it was DELICIOUS.\u00a0 Mary worked her magic again.<\/p>\n

Mary is at work in the kitchen.<\/p><\/div>\n

Not only was it a palette pleaser, but it was pretty also!<\/p>\n

Scout loved the smell of the sauce, so we stayed near the kitchen.<\/p>\n

Scout is providing us with adult supervision,<\/p><\/div>\n

After dinner, we got a glass of wine and visited Jeff, our neighbor.\u00a0 We chatted with him until after the sun went down.\u00a0 We are fortunate to have great neighbors.<\/p>\n

We posted a sign to ensure no one enters the garden area uninvited.!<\/p>\n
