Fact: You don’t need to be a dedicated composter to reap similar benefits.\u00a0 <\/strong>Call it cheating, but applying used coffee grounds, eggshells, chopped-up banana peels, and other organic matter directly to your soil (no composting required) can offer plants nutrients as they decompose.\u00a0 For already-growing beds, scatter and bury the items within the first few inches of soil.<\/em><\/p>\n

We bounded out of bed, hit the showers, and got ready to exercise at the gym for an hour!<\/p>\n

The gym was great, we worked hard for about an hour, but the room was quite cool.\u00a0 We usually take our little readers with us and finish off fifty-plus pages.<\/p>\n

Gary started work at 6:00 AM as the forecast said it would be near 97 degrees today!\u00a0 We captured him at work using our security camera mounted on the She-Shed.<\/p>\n

If you have a pickle problem, it is best to dill with it.<\/p>\n

Early in the morning, Gary was at work!<\/p><\/div>\n

We went to the Santa Ana Elks and had our weekly “Girls Night Out” session.\u00a0 Mary and I were good because we had Chinese salads, and I had chicken, and she did salmon.\u00a0 We both tried the potato-broccoli soup; it was terrific.<\/p>\n

We were captured finishing the hot chocolate drink; again, we were good because we shared it instead of having two.\u00a0 I eat cake every day because it’s someone’s birthday somewhere out there and I like celebrating it.<\/p>\n

Smoooooch!<\/p><\/div>\n

Gary was gone for the extended weekend, and we are about three weeks away from finishing.\u00a0 We had an extra course of block added to the wall.\u00a0 It will be a tad higher than Los Alamitos, but we can still sit on the way, and we will not have to worry about the clay soil at the bottom.\u00a0 \u00a0I will need more than 40 yards of new soil at $60\/yard!<\/p>\n

Progress has stopped for the next four days!<\/p><\/div>\n

It’s mating season for the wheelbarrows!\u00a0 Yes, they are His and Hers but notice they are both two-wheeled, so we old folks won’t tip them over so easily!<\/p>\n

I planted onions and Swiss chard at 5:00 PM when the heat was still in the upper 90s.\u00a0 I stayed in the shade the whole time except for getting bags of potting mix.\u00a0 The plants were soaked with water and should be able to withstand the onslaught of heat this weekend.<\/p>\n

More to plant in the morning.<\/p><\/div>\n

We watched Mrs. Maisel until our funny bones were sore.\u00a0 To the Swim Spa, we went for a well-deserved soak.\u00a0 We heard Disneyland’s fireworks at the firepit while we watched the nighttime sky.<\/p>\n

Time to crash at 10:00 PM.\u00a0 Tomorrow is going to be a busy day.\u00a0 We are NOT looking forward to Saturday!<\/p>\n
