it&#8217;s a plane&#8230;.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Donna told stories of being young and remembering.<\/p>\n<div class=\"didYouKnow\">\n<p><strong>Donna Remembers:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>It took three minutes for the TV to warm up.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Nobody owned a purebred dog.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>When a quarter was a decent allowance and made with real Silver!<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>You&#8217;d reach into a muddy gutter for a penny.\u00a0 Made with real copper!\u00a0 Looking to see if it was a 1943 lead penny!<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>You got your windshield cleaned, oil checked, and gas pumped, without asking, all for free, every time.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>And you didn&#8217;t pay for air?<\/em><br \/>\n<em>And, you got trading stamps to boot.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Laundry detergent had free glasses, dishes, or towels hidden inside the box.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Not to mention Cracker Jacks!<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>It was considered a great privilege to be taken out to dinner at a real restaurant with your parents.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>They threatened to keep kids back a grade if they failed&#8230;and they did it!<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>When a 57 Chevy was everyone&#8217;s dream car&#8230; to cruise, peel out, lay rubber, or watch submarine races, people went steady.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>No one ever asked where the car keys were because they were always in the car, in the ignition, and the doors were never locked.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Lying on your back in the grass with your friends and saying things like, &#8216;That cloud looks like a&#8230;&#8217;.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Playing baseball with no adults to help kids with the rules of the game.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Stuff from the store came without safety caps and hermetic seals because no one had yet tried to poison a perfect stranger.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>When being sent to the principal&#8217;s office was nothing compared to the fate that awaited the student at home.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>And with all our progress, don&#8217;t you wish, just once, you could slip back in time, savor the slower pace, and share it with today&#8217;s children?<\/p>\n<p>We loved the Sawdust buildings; Bob and I sang thee chorsus of &#8220;How Dry I Am&#8221; and three people stopped and gave us money to stop!
