Fact: A bridge for squirrels exists.<\/strong> – A town in Washington has a treetop bridge over a busy road that’s just big enough for squirrels, and it’s called the “Nutty Narrows Bridge.” <\/em>A squirrel bridge is a construction (similar to a wildlife crossing) that enables small animals, especially squirrels and martens, to safely cross busy roadways.\u00a0 The bridges are a measure for wildlife management and natural habitat preservation and serve the functions of both animal welfare and accident prevention.\u00a0 The Nutty Narrows Bridge in Longview, Washington, built-in 1963, is regarded as the first of its kind.\u00a0 The city has since built six other bridges for squirrels.<\/em><\/p>\n

We were up and going early today as there was a lot of gardening to do!\u00a0 We pulled weeds, dug up small trees, fixed the sprinkler system, and generally kept busy!\u00a0 We worked from 8:00 AM until almost 3:00 PM, but the place looks good!<\/p>\n

Happy Pre-Valentine’s Day, dear Mary!<\/p><\/div>\n

Scout assisted all day, primarily by laying down and keeping an eye on the stray elephants!\u00a0 I told Mary, “A weed is a plant that has mastered every survival skill except for learning how to grow in rows.”<\/p>\n

We dug in the dirt all day long!<\/p><\/div>\n

Then I asked Mary, “What are the kinds of socks a gardener wears?\u00a0 Garden hose.”<\/p>\n

Mary was weeding, but she had a question for me.\u00a0 “When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant?”\u00a0 I answered, “Pull on it.\u00a0 If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.”<\/p>\n

Mary put in little signs in the garden to help us know ow where everything was located!<\/p>\n

Say what?<\/p><\/div>\n

I must remember to wear a belt next time before I go gardening!\u00a0 I do not want to scare Scout.<\/p>\n

I took out some palm trees that were starting.<\/p><\/div>\n

Mary had MY camera next to her and snapped a picture which I found out about hours later.\u00a0 Note to self; go on Amazon and buy braces (suspenders).<\/p>\n

Frightening!<\/p><\/div>\n

Now the drip lines are all working.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

We stopped for a few minutes at noon and had lunch, a working man’s lunch!\u00a0 Afterward, I was full of energy and worked two more hours!<\/p>\n

Lunch was served; baby back ribs!<\/p><\/div>\n

We love leftovers, we have to, or nothing would fit in the frig!<\/p>\n

Beans, rice, halibut, and pot roast!<\/p><\/div>\n

We were smart and wore our hats all day!<\/p>\n

Down the hatch!<\/p><\/div>\n

We worked in the front yard for a while.\u00a0 So my neighbor sees me kneeling, busy in my garden, and asks what I’m doing.\u00a0 I responded, “I’m putting all my plants in alphabetical order.”\u00a0 He said, “Really?!\u00a0 I don’t know how you find the time!” Of course, without missing a beat, I said, “It’s right next to the sage.”<\/p>\n

We planted almost 50 separate plants!<\/p><\/div>\n

At 3:30 PM, we turned on the TV in the kitchen.\u00a0 I do NOT watch the Super Bowl as it goes against my thoughts.\u00a0 Paying guys millions of dollars to toss around a little misshapen rubber ball?\u00a0 Then the halftime looked like May Day at the spastics convention.\u00a0 No music, damn little talent, indistinguishable lyrics, and the fireworks were aimed in the wrong direction…the fireworks should have been aimed at the stage.\u00a0 Pitiful to have this slop broadcast all over the world.\u00a0 No wonder half the world does not like us.<\/p>\n

Mary cooked while the sloppy bowl played, so I was busy peeling, slicing, and dicing.\u00a0 She made lentil soup, and I fixed up some artichokes.\u00a0 We had a great dinner at the end of the game.\u00a0 Once I knew the halftime was NOT going to reappear, I watched the last ten minutes of the game.<\/p>\n

We then hit the swim spa for an hour before going to bed and doing some reading.\u00a0 We were going to watch Eureka, but after working all day, we crashed.<\/p>\n
