Fact: Oranges aren’t naturally occurring fruits\u00a0<\/strong> – Oranges may be an iconic fruit, but they are not naturally occurring, as The Telegraph points out. Oranges are a hybrid of tangerines and pomelos, also known as “Chinese grapefruit,” They were originally green\u2014not, well, orange. Oranges are a subtropical fruit, but now that they exist in more temperate climates, they lose their chlorophyll-induced green and become their more familiar color when the weather warms up.<\/em><\/p>\n

We up at the crack of dawn, not because we wanted to be, but because Scout, The Wonder Dog, came to the side of the bed and gave us his paw. That means, “Take me out, Daddy.” Off we went, and I booted him out the door.<\/p>\n

It was time for coffee, so I went to the coffee machine. A coffee a day keeps the grumpy away. Sometimes I go hours without drinking coffee, and it’s called sleeping.<\/p>\n

As Scout would say, “Bark bark!”<\/p><\/div>\n

We worked in the office until it was time to clean up and receive Becky and Dan. We plan to take them on a tour of the old homestead and then go to Orange Hills for lunch at 1:00 PM.<\/p>\n

Scout knew them and didn’t bark when they came to the door!<\/p>\n

We gave Becky and Dan the home tour today,<\/p><\/div>\n

Just for Colleen, I snapped a picture of our weather station. It was indeed 80+ degrees outside, quite pleasant.\u00a0 \u00a0When we discussed the New Hampshire weather, I asked, “What does a cloud wear under his raincoat?”\u00a0 Becky and Dan were not ready for my warped sense of humor, and I responded with, ” Thunderwear!”<\/p>\n

The weather was perfect!<\/p><\/div>\n

We drove separately to the restaurant, which is two miles away. Orange Hill is a hilltop hideaway uniquely situated on the hills of Orange County; Orange Hill offers sweeping views of Catalina Island, Downtown Los Angeles, Disneyland’s magical firework show, and our beautiful California coastline. We arrived to see cascading waterfalls, koi ponds, and a stunning fireplace.<\/p>\n

We got seated but then had to move as a loud party was going on at the next table over. After the move, things settled down.<\/p>\n

The wine was the first order of business! I told Dan, “A friend said a wine he tried recently was bitter and not properly fermented.”\u00a0 I replied to my friend, “Sounds like sour grapes to me.”<\/p>\n

We dined at Orange Hills.<\/p><\/div>\n

We laughed and told stories the entire time. Dan and I both get the giggles.<\/p>\n

We laughed and giggled for two hours.<\/p><\/div>\n

The kids were also enjoying themselves, and we plan to do this again soon. I mentioned my collection of non-alcoholic wine and that I was donating it to the Elks. Someone told me that non-alcoholic wine was delicious, and I said they had no proof.<\/p>\n

We guys were lucky to sit next to two beautiful ladies. Dang! Good food, good wine, and lovely ladies.<\/p>\n

We headed home about 3:00 PM, and at 4:00 PM, we were off again driving to Costa Mesa to do a fly-by for Bill. We then headed to Chino to dance and had “dinner” at the Chinese restaurant, P.F. Changs.<\/p>\n

I ordered BBQ beef, but the waiter said they do NOT have BBQ. When I asked why he said, “Why can’t Chinese barbecue? “Because the rice falls through the grill.”\u00a0 I had wontons, and Mary did string beans.<\/p>\n

I proceeded to eat the wontons. I was chopping them up when suddenly it hit me… I was engaging in acts of wonton destruction.<\/p>\n
