It was the day before my birthday, and all through the house, the damned mice were giggling!\u00a0 What’s going on??<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

We arose to face the new day with smiles on our faces! What should we do today? How about finishing the Christmas tree?\u00a0 Nope, we decided to go to Roger’s Gardens and see the goodies.\u00a0 Into the Silver Fox and off like a shot until the 55 becomes clogged.\u00a0 It took forty-five minutes to go where it should have taken twenty-five, but on the bright side, we had more time to visit!<\/p>\n

Colleen spied the blur pots and went wild until she saw the $500 price tag!<\/p><\/div>\n

Inside the various shops at Roger’s is always an adventure in shopping and a place to get sticker-shock.<\/p>\n

Well, ding-a-ling!<\/p><\/div>\n

The girls find their treasures as we wander in and out of the rooms.\u00a0 I asked the girls, “What happens if you eat Christmas decorations?” Of course, I got a set of blank stares to which I responded cleverly, ” You get tinsel-i-tis.”<\/p>\n

The girls seem to like similar items.<\/p><\/div>\n

Now we are getting serious!\u00a0 I made choo-choo sounds while the train was passing, and I noticed the girls picked up speed rather rapidly and did not look back.\u00a0 \u00a0 I hurried back to them and decided to get even.\u00a0 I asked, “How much did Santa pay for his sleigh?”\u00a0 This time I got two scowls and three rolled eyes to which I said, ” Nothing, it was on the house!<\/p>\n

I must call Joe and see how his train is doing.<\/p><\/div>\n

Back inside again, I thought to myself, self; What do you call a broke Santa Claus? Saint-nickel-less.\u00a0 I decided not to go verbal with the thought, a wise choice.<\/p>\n

Mary found some treasures, and so did Colleen.\u00a0 I sure found a gem in Dr. Mary!<\/p>\n

Indeed!!!<\/p><\/div>\n

Mary had several items, but only one for her,\u00a0 earrings,\u00a0 and a wine-glass tree ornament for us.\u00a0 Everything else was for others.\u00a0 She is amazing!<\/p>\n

She found something.<\/p><\/div>\n

I thought I heard something growling; perhaps it was a hungry reindeer hiding behind the shelf.\u00a0 Then I discovered it was the combined tummies of Colleen and Mary.\u00a0 Something had to be done quickly.\u00a0 I racked my brain, which took exactly and precisely 1.1 seconds (there is not much to rack!)<\/p>\n

Before leaving, I saw Santa sitting on a chair in the corner, and I ran up to him because I knew what I wanted for Christmas. Well, he asked… I told!<\/p>\n

Santa did look a little perplexed!<\/p><\/div>\n

Santa still allowed us to say hello even after my little incident.\u00a0 I did ask Santa, “What’s the difference between the Christmas alphabet and the ordinary alphabet? The Christmas alphabet has Noel.”<\/p>\n

Santa was careful NOT to ask what Dr. Mary wants for Christmas!<\/p><\/div>\n

Ah ha, Casina Enoteca in the parking lot of South Coast Plaza.\u00a0 Eclectic food, pleasant surroundings, and plenty of booze; sounded like a winner!<\/p>\n

Cucina Enoteca has a diverse menu.<\/p><\/div>\n

We had octopus, fried and stuffed squash blossoms, and several exciting dishes.\u00a0 The waitress was a hoot also; HOOT, not hooters! (Do I know my readers or what!)<\/p>\n

We discussed Christmas and how they could find flying reindeer.<\/p>\n

Flying or cliff diving; the only two choices!<\/p><\/div>\n

We kept Colleen in stitches, and she returned the favor; the three of us giggled through lunch!<\/p>\n

She is always smiling!<\/p><\/div>\n

We returned home quickly because we discovered we all forgot to put the frozen tamales into the freezer last night; thank goodness, they were frozen rock solid.\u00a0 We added our Christmas goods to the truck and returned home.<\/p>\n

We began our chores going to TJ’s first (Trader Joe’s). We needed to get our wine supply; four cases should do it.\u00a0 As we wandered around the store, things kept falling into the basket; I know not how.\u00a0 We ended up with a Danish Christmas dessert, chocolate tookies, and other exciting items.<\/p>\n

The next stop was the bar-stool store, Witherspoons!\u00a0 We got the Christmas present for the Perry’s.\u00a0 Two bar stools that were quite interesting; they had seat belts.\u00a0 We placed the order, but it will take three months because they are custom-made and have to be flown to New Hampshire for delivery.<\/p>\n

Back home, we are sitting down for a long winter nap, and the phone rings!\u00a0 Vicky tells us that Irene has been at the airport trying to fly to Portland since 7:00 AM; it is now 7:00 PM.\u00a0 Since we are fifteen minutes from John Wayne, we called and offered her a bed in our Manger for the night, and we would take her back to the airport tomorrow morning.<\/p>\n

We visited with Irene until 9:00 PM, and we all crashed.\u00a0 I hope the trip to the airport goes well tomorrow morning.<\/p>\n
