Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them, and you have their shoes.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Today marks nine months that Mary and I have been seeing each other and a happy nine months it has been!<\/p>\n

Well, I woke up this morning and realized that I bought a house.\u00a0 I am moving into a new location at my age, but with a beautiful lady, I adore.\u00a0 My nerves are settling down, and I have the “go-ahead” from my closest friends and family.<\/p>\n

Mary had a dentist appointment at 9:00 AM, and then we had to go to the escrow company and change the wire instructions.\u00a0 My financial advisor suggested I NOT pick up a check for that amount of money; it was safer to wire it into my account.\u00a0 They were in Newport Beach.\u00a0 We grabbed breakfast at a local Starbucks before heading back to Orange for additional chores.<\/p>\n

Breakfast is served!<\/p><\/div>\n

Somehow I munched my tow on the left foot, so Mary pulled some strings and got me in to see her friend, the podiatrist!\u00a0 He took a look and pronounced it “badly bruised” and that I should stay horizontal and be fed bonbons for a couple of days! Well, that prescription was immediately tossed out by you-know-who!<\/p>\n

Mary decided Borscht was on the menu for today.\u00a0 It is wonderful to have a creative cook back in my life.<\/p>\n

I asked Mary, “Why did the veggie band sound horrible? They were missing a beet.!”\u00a0 With that one, I got a Boo and a Hissss!<\/p>\n

We stopped at the market and got the ingredients before wandering over to the haircut parlor, OK, beauty parlor.\u00a0 My hair was already such a disaster that the Red Cross wouldn\u2019t give it coffee.\u00a0 I was asked where I got my “hair products?”\u00a0 What are hair products?\u00a0\u00a0I get all my hair products at PetCo.<\/p>\n

When we got home, Mary insisted I put my foot in ice water (it is usually in my mouth!).<\/p>\n

Dr. Mary is a tough caregiver!<\/p><\/div>\n

OK, time to cook up the borscht, but what is borscht?<\/p>\n

Borscht is a Ukrainian beet soup common in Eastern Europe and Northern Asia. It is typically made using a large amount of beets (normally sour beets), combining meat or bone stock with saut\u00e9ed vegetables, which \u2013 along with a large amount of beetroots \u2013 may include cabbage, carrots, onions, potatoes, and tomatoes. Depending on the recipe, borscht may include meat\/chicken\/fish or be purely vegetarian; it may be served either hot or cold, and it may range from a hearty one-pot meal to a clear broth or a smooth drink.<\/div>\n

As I have always done, I pitch in and become a pest!\u00a0 Today Mary volunteered me to cut up the beets and use a grinder to get them into the proper size.\u00a0 I first read up on how to get the stain off your hands because I tried a pair of Mary’s gloves on.\u00a0 I got two fingers into one of the gloves before it slipped off and flew across the room with a loud “SPLAT.”\u00a0 The doggie was petrified, and the UFO flying across his bed.<\/p>\n

I was caught “red-handed” by Mary!<\/p><\/div>\n

Mary found her hand grinder, which was excellent.\u00a0 It chopped up those beets into tiny morsels with ease and just a little bit of juice.\u00a0 Of course, I wore my apron.<\/p>\n

Mary had to dig for the grinder, but now it will stay out because this soup was OUTSTANDING!<\/p><\/div>\n

We worked for about two hours from start to finish, and it was well worth it.<\/p>\n

In the final stage of preparations!<\/p><\/div>\n

We watched a movie on TV with Charles Bronson while we stuffed ourselves. I had two LARGE cups of soup, and it was amazing. We are taking some to Jan in the morning.<\/p>\n

We baked rolls to go along with the meal!<\/p><\/div>\n
