\u00a0As a farmer, I hear lots of sheep jokes. I\u2019d tell them to Scout, but he\u2019d herd them all.<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n

I was up at 0-dark-thirty because there was work to be done in the garden.\u00a0 Mary popped over at 7:00 AM in her working clothes, and we attacked the garden.\u00a0 We had about twenty-five feet of garden to clear of weeds and prep for planting next weekend.<\/p>\n

The rototiller and I did battle with the evil weeds, and we won.\u00a0 Mary wrapped up the cords, and we were about finished, except for picking!<\/p>\n

That girl knows how to work!<\/p><\/div>\n

She digs right in and enjoys the garden work, especially since she gets to pick anything she wants!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>

We call her “digger”<\/p><\/div>\n

There is still a lot of Swiss chard, cabbage, and lettuce plus onions and peas.\u00a0 There is nothing better than fresh goodies out of the garden.\u00a0 I used to make loads of money clearing leaves from gardens. I was raking it in.<\/p>\n

Getting ready for next weeks planting activity.<\/p><\/div>\n

The peas are both English shelling and Japanese flats.\u00a0 You have to look closely to see which one is which.\u00a0 Did you know that the proper etiquette for eating peas is to squash them on the back of your fork?<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Peas anyone? The plants are loaded!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

They are delightful when picked directly from the bush and into the mouth!<\/p><\/div>\n

Around noon we got in our cars and headed for Mary’s, where the tree trimmers were shortening her 60′ trees.\u00a0 They had made a lot of progress while Mary was visiting me.<\/p>\n

Good start!<\/p><\/div>\n

The guys did a good job taking twenty-feet of the top of all ten trees.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>

The yard was filled with tree cuttings.<\/p><\/div>\n

Around 4:00 PM, we began getting ready for tonight’s dance in Chino.\u00a0 We departed at 5:00 PM and arrived at PG Changs at 5:45 PM, proceeding to our table and had a drink.\u00a0 Bob and Donna came within a few minutes.<\/p>\n

Always fun to be with!<\/p><\/div>\n

Mary and I each had soup, and we shared an entree salad.\u00a0 There was so much food we brought half of it home.<\/p>\n

At 7:00, we headed for the dance, and I promised everyone I would not suggest the hokey-pokey this week.\u00a0 Marcin sent me his video from last week.<\/p>\n

We danced and danced and had a ball with our dear friends.\u00a0 It was Bill Capps birthday, he turned 106 but does not look a day over 105…on a good day! We had birthday cupcakes and sang him Happy Birthday.<\/p>\n

We had to use cupcakes; if we had a cake we would need to have 106 candles, a certain recipe for a small fire!<\/p><\/div>\n

The Mary’s watch the ceremony! Bill’s Mary checks to make sure Bill only gets a small cupcake.<\/p>\n

At 9:00 PM, we headed home and decided we would not crash, so we found a great movie, “Grand Torino.”\u00a0 We stayed up until midnight for the first time in a while.\u00a0 Mary crashed, and I headed home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
