A scarecrow says, “This job isn’t for everyone, but hay, it’s in my jeans.”<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Today was a big day, and I arose wondering what the evening would bring.\u00a0 The long-awaited party for Zachary’s 30th birthday happens this evening.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>

I am very proud of Zachary and Rebecca.<\/p><\/div>\n

Well, as it turns out, the day started better than I expected.\u00a0 My iPhone lit up, shook, and made strange noises.\u00a0 It was a text from Miss Mary with an invite for brunch at Chez C\u00f4t\u00e9.\u00a0 I had to think about the offer for thirteen microseconds! And the answer was, no, take a guess!<\/p>\n

Duh!<\/p><\/div>\n

I got ready quickly and told The Silver Fox to proceed with vigor.\u00a0 Well, I was paralyzed with fear as we approached 62 MPH on the 22 Freeway.\u00a0 I kept thinking to myself, “What would Mary do?”\u00a0 So, I hit the throttle, making it up to the speed limit!<\/p>\n

Arriving at Mary’s, she was already working in the kitchen.\u00a0 We had waffles with fried eggs.\u00a0 Indeed a meal fit for a king.\u00a0 We sat outside and enjoyed the fine weather.<\/p>\n

Cute a bug’s ear!<\/p><\/div>\n

The rest of the afternoon, we watched TV, played with Scout, and just visited.<\/p>\n

Then I realized that I had worn a short sleeve shirt and jeans as I forgot about the party when Mary texted.\u00a0 Clothes change required a fly-by home before going to the party.\u00a0 Mary offered to ride with me to avoid a long round trip.\u00a0 After arriving home, we picked out which of my seven red shirts matched her dress, and I was ready for the evening in twenty minutes flat.\u00a0 We are off to La Habra.<\/p>\n

We walked the red carpet, and we fit right in!<\/p>\n

Love those red colors!<\/p><\/div>\n

The entire house, yard, and everything were ready for a party.\u00a0 We took a carefully chosen seat to be away from the speakers as we could get; we knew what was coming.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Is he turning 30?<\/p><\/div>\n

Did we see a dance floor?\u00a0 Did we see a DJ?\u00a0 What could this mean?\u00a0 Duh!\u00a0 We started with a waltz and graduated to a cha-cha followed by many swing songs.\u00a0 We danced for an hour or more.\u00a0 Mary came home with a blistering set of heels.<\/p>\n

We were the only people dancing, so we selected a bunch of oldies!<\/p><\/div>\n

It was time for the toast, and of course, I ordered raisin.\u00a0 Then Mary explained it to me, so I readied my enunciating skills, coughed three times, took a big swig of whiskey, and was ready to step up to the mic and utter profound words!<\/p>\n

Time for a short speech. Zack, Becca, Mary, me, Gary, and Peanut.<\/p><\/div>\n

After the first 45 minutes, I noticed all the people had left, and two guys were coming in my direction with wire cutter mumbling something about, “…you cut the power cord, and I will cut the microphone off…”\u00a0 Did I speak Zacharys praises too long?<\/p>\n

The place was full, a lovely tribute to a good “old” man!<\/p>\n

The place was full of friends and family.<\/p><\/div>\n

Then it happened, Connor happened on the scene and never to leave well enough alone, he swept in.\u00a0 My resistance was low, so I got even with him!\u00a0 Grandpa and two grandsons, this is a good thing!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>

What happens in La Habra stays in La Habra, I hope!<\/p><\/div>\n

We stayed longer than planned, but the dancing was great and the friends and family even better.\u00a0 Mary and I departed with Robin and Bob following us about 9:00 PM.\u00a0 Daughter Robin was worried about my driving.\u00a0 Well, after two miles, they decided I could not get hurt going twelve miles an hour besides Robin’s lead foot was overheating.\u00a0 It was a kind offer, and we appreciated it.<\/p>\n

We returned to Mary’s about 10:00 PM, and we watched one more episode of The Amazing Miss Maisel.\u00a0 No more wine as I had to take The Silver Fox home, and he is too young to drive on his own; he needed adult supervision.\u00a0 Did I say “adult?”\u00a0 It was an excellent way to end the evening.<\/p>\n

Home again about 10:40 PM and time to crash.\u00a0 My head was still hearing the Tenessee Waltz, and seeing Mary smiling so beautifully while knowing full well inside her head he brain was saying, “What in the world step is he doing now? This tune is a waltz, not a rumba!”<\/p>\n
