Can you wear white after Labor Day? This old tradition goes back to the late Victorian era, where it was a fashion faux pas to wear any white clothing after the summer officially ended on Labor Day. The tradition isn\u2019t really followed anymore. Emily Post explained the logic behind the fashion trend \u2013 white indicated you were still in vacation mode at your summer cottage<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Up an at ’em…I headed to threw stores this fine am. Staples, Ralph’s and CVS.\u00a0 But why Staples you ask?\u00a0 Here’s the truth!<\/p>\n

I am getting to know the hood pretty well!<\/p><\/div>\n

My shop in the garage has a lot of power tools and each of them have “instruction manuals”..great idea!\u00a0 But, the manuals are printed on 5″x7″ paper so they would easily fit inside the box the tools came in.\u00a0 Enter me…after 74 years on this planet, me an Mr. McGoo have something in common…can’t see the small print!<\/p>\n

What to do?\u00a0 I got electronic copies of all the manuals (each of the manuals is about 8-15 pages long) and I sent them electronically to Staples with specific instructions on how to print them (plus a little funny note to the operator saying make the reproductions as big as will fit on an 8 1\/2″ x 11″ page.<\/p>\n

Voila, I sent the 80+ pages in at 8:30 AM and picked them up at 10:00 AM perfectly printed on 60 pound paper and three-hole punched for a who $9.00!\u00a0 You just can’t beat that!\u00a0 Thank you Staples!<\/p>\n

Returning home, we had a quick brunch and then decided to watch some TV as we are now on season 15 of NCIS.\u00a0\u00a0The fifteenth season of the American police procedural drama NCIS premiered on September 26, 2017, in the same time slot as in the previous seasons, Tuesdays at 8 PM. The season premiere was watched by 17.42 milion viewers, picking up two months after Gibbs and McGee were last seen fighting a group of rebels in Paraguay and focused on the aftermath of those events. The season concluded on May 22, 2018 and contained 24 episodes.<\/p>\n

We just messed around until about 5:00 PM when we decided to go to Patty’s Place to visit the locals.\u00a0While Sue took her shower, I watched another episode of Amos and Andy…sure brings back memories.<\/p>\n

Did You Know?\u00a0Amos ‘n’ Andy is an American radio and television sitcom set in Harlem, Manhattan’s historic black community. The original radio show, which ran from 1928 until 1960, was created, written and voiced by two white actors, Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll, who played Amos Jones (Gosden) and Andrew Hogg Brown (Correll) as well as incidental characters.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

When the show moved to television, black actors took over the majority of the roles; white characters were infrequent. Amos ‘n’ Andy began as one of the first radio comedy series and originated from station WMAQ in Chicago. After the first broadcast in 1928, the show became a hugely popular radio series. Early episodes were broadcast from the El Mirador Hotel in Palm Springs, California. Sue brought her special wine and I had a new type of gin and tonic, the gin was called Empress and frankly it was fantastic.<\/p>\n
