Start the day with a smile!<\/p><\/div>\n

Today we extended the walk as Paul needed to stop by the drug store for some coated aspirin and some other goodies.\u00a0 RiteAid is located by the numeral “2” on the map meaning it is two miles from our home.\u00a0 The it was return to home for brunch!<\/p>\n

Three + miles today…<\/p><\/div>\n

The climbers we going wild today…funny thing, sometimes there are obvious and sometimes Paul doesn’t every see one..or at least register them.\u00a0 You guessed it, morning glories.<\/p>\n

Did You Know?\u00a0 Most morning glory flowers unravel into full bloom in the early morning. The flowers usually start to fade a few hours before the “petals” start showing visible curling. They prefer full solar exposure throughout the day, and mesic soils. Some morning glories, such as Ipomoea muricata, are night-blooming flowers.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

In some places, such as Australian bushland, some species of morning glories develop thick roots and tend to grow in dense thickets. They can quickly spread by way of long, creeping stems. By crowding out, blanketing and smothering other plants, morning glory has turned into a serious invasive weed problem.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Scientific name of morning glory is “Ipomoea”. It means “worm-like” (in Latin) and refers to the worm-shaped stem of this plant.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Some types of morning glory such as water morning glory (also known as water spinach) and sweet potato are used in human diet. Water morning glory is consumed as green vegetables. Sweet potato is prized for its delicious tuber.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Returning home we got the call… Colleen is in the hospital!\u00a0 Doesn’t seem fair…all the way from New Hampshire and ends up being taken to the emergency with what is like an attack of colitis.\u00a0 Paul went for a visit as Sue just can’t ride in the car that far until the back recovers.\u00a0 We had a good visit and the Paul returned home remembering why he likes Seal Beach as opposed to Whittier… twenty degrees temperature different!<\/p>\n

On getting out of the car, it hit Paul like a sledgehammer..\u00a0 The heat in Whittier was pretty high and the car thermometer reached 97 on the way home!<\/p>\n

Now I know why I wanted to move back to the beach!<\/p><\/div>\n

Paul worked in the yard and then we watched TV until late.\u00a0 We opted out of going to Garden Grove Elks as the back was doing pretty poorly this evening.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
