Egg Day!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>First&#8230; Some groaners:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What happened to the Easter Bunny when he misbehaved at school? He was egg-spelled!<\/li>\n<li>Did you hear about the lady whose house was infested with Easter eggs? She had to call an eggs-terminator!<\/li>\n<li>Why do we paint Easter eggs? On the first day of spring (the spring equinox), they would give each other eggs that were dyed red.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The ancient Persians were not the only people who used eggs to celebrate the arrival of spring. The ancient Egyptians, the ancient Greeks, and the ancient Romans also used colored eggs to celebrate the arrival of spring.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The first known Christians to use colored eggs to celebrate the Easter season were the thirteenth century Macedonians. Crusaders who had traveled to the Middle East brought back to Europe the custom of using colored eggs to celebrate spring time holidays. decide to use Grandma&#8217;s egg ferris wheel for a launching mechanism for eggs &#8211; Yes, the adults watched!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Oh, we should mention that at the end of the day, the gang gets into gear and about the only thing we had to do it &#8220;press the button on the dishwasher!&#8221;&#8230; Wow!\u00a0 We love Easter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">Random Memory: Paul remembers growing up and on Easter we would travel from Santa Monica to Downey (in those days, it was all on side streets) to meet up with Aunt&#8217;s and Uncle&#8217;s who lived in Downey.\u00a0 In the early 1950&#8217;s the aunts both lived in TINY houses slight bigger than a two car garage.\u00a0 The ladies would go into those tiny houses and come out with the best meals every served to mankind.\u00a0 Ham, turkey with all the fixins, cakes and pies and of course eggs to decorate! We had Mom, Aunt Edith, Aunt Alma, and Aunt Opal all of who were good cooks!<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">It&#8217;s funny but the days when we had little (money), we had the greatest feeling of family unity and love.\u00a0 It was a delightful time.\u00a0 The ladies would go to church and the guys would sit out under the trees and listed to the radio. TV wasn&#8217;t for us yet&#8230; We listened and pictured the ball game!<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\">It&#8217;s too bad we have so much &#8220;stuff&#8221; today&#8230; Seems like &#8220;stuff&#8221; takes time and energy away from being with family in a meaningful way!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In the evening we decided to go to Garden Grove and met up with the Brander&#8217;s, Finch&#8217;s, and others.\u00a0 We had a delightful evening but headed home a little early to rest&#8230; Not us, our ears!\u00a0 The band was a tad loud this evening.<\/p>\n<p>We crashed at 12:30 PM after watching &#8220;Hart Of Dixie&#8221;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>First&#8230; Some groaners: What happened to the Easter Bunny when he misbehaved at school?
