Nearing home Paul was getting hungry and to his surprise, Santa was made of gingerbread!\u00a0 He was almost eaten but Paul stayed on his diet.<\/p>\n
Did You Know? Originally, the term gingerbread (from Latin zingiber via Old French gingebras) referred to preserved ginger. It then referred to a confection made with honey and spices. Gingerbread is often used to translate the French term pain d’\u00e9pices (literally “spice bread”) or the German term Lebkuchen (The etymology of “Leb” is uncertain. It could have come from Latin “libum” (“flat bread”) or German “Laib” (“loaf”). “Kuchen” translates to “cake”) or Pfefferkuchen (“pepperbread”, literally “pepper cake”).<\/span><\/em> At the end of the walk the gingerbread Santa looked pretty good!<\/p><\/div>\n Paul worked in the garage in the afternoon continuing his quest to reduce the clutter.\u00a0 There was an 8-foot four-tube fluorescent light fixture which had been there for 30 years and it finally bit the dust thanks to Paul’s new Makita Sawz-all!<\/p>\n We stayed home and watched a new Hallmark movie entitled “A Song For Christmas”.\u00a0 Summary: Pop superstar Adelaide Kay is so fed up with her controlling manager that she sneaks off the tour bus after their latest squabble. What he doesn\u2019t plan, however, is their mutual attraction.<\/p>\n We loved the movie… The star really shines!<\/p><\/div>\n We have a new series we are watching called “Fuller House”. Summary: Fuller House is an American sitcom created by Jeff Franklin that airs as a Netflix original series, and is a sequel to the 1987\u20131995 television series Full House. It centers around D.J. Tanner-Fuller, a veterinarian and widowed mother of three sons, whose sister Stephanie and best friend Kimmy\u2014along with her teenage daughter\u2014live together at the Tanners’ childhood home in San Francisco, California.<\/p>\n The series has had mixed reviews but it is funny with Kimmy carrying most of the water.<\/p>\n Time to crash!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Happy Birthday Jan Finch! \nGingerbread is claimed to have been brought to Europe in 992 CE by the Armenian monk Gregory of Nicopolis (also called Gregory Makar and Gr\u00e9goire de Nicopolis). He left Nicopolis (in modern-day western Greece) to live in Bondaroy (north-central France), near the town of Pithiviers.
