By noon it was time to clean up and get ready for music, dinner, and dancing!\u00a0 We went to the theater, Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, at 2:00 PM for a 3:00 PM performance.\u00a0 We saw “American Rhapsody: The Gershwin Songbook “, a tribute to Gershwin.<\/p>\n

Did You Know? George Gershwin died immediately following brain surgery on July 11, 1937, at the age 38.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n We had an afternoon of iconic American music by one of the most indelible composers of the twentieth century, George Gershwin. Nearly a century after the songs were composed, Gershwin’s music remains as fresh and irresistible as it did during the Jazz Age. His poetic melodies and eclectic oeuvre of everything including Broadway, Hollywood, opera, and classic American standards have left a true legacy. The Gershwin Big Band, a seventeen piece band of world-class jazz musicians led by vocalist Michael Andrew, brings George Gershwin’s music to life. This show is produced and created by members of the George Gershwin family, and developed by Todd Gershwin.<\/p>\n We had front row seats along with the Zaitz, Roberts, and Kuhns.\u00a0 We departed early as we needed to go to Old Ranch for the monthy dinner dance.\u00a0 While leaving at the break, PAul spotted two little old ladies in the four-tier of the balcony seats.\u00a0 Nose-bleed area.<\/p>\n After having a drink at intermission, Paul spotted the ladies and gave them our tickets to sit in the front row.\u00a0 They were tickled to death.<\/p>\n Off to Old Ranch.\u00a0 We have 24 here tonight and we\u00a0 danced until 9:00 PM before going home!\u00a0 We watched “Harvest Love” on the Hallmark Channel.<\/p>\n A widowed surgeon visits her family\u2019s pear orchard in hopes of taking a break from her overbooked life and reconnecting with her distant son.
