We departed at 10:00 AM and decided to go VFR (i.e., we went direct via Highway 99!).<\/p>\n

Did You Know? U.S. Route 99 (US 99) was a main north\u2013south United States Numbered Highway on the West Coast of the United States until 1964, running from Calexico, California, on the US\u2013Mexico border to Blaine, Washington, on the U.S.-Canada border. It was assigned in 1926 and existed until it was replaced for the most part by Interstate 5. Known also as the “Golden State Highway” and “The Main Street of California”, US 99 was important throughout much of the 1930s as a route for Dust Bowl immigrant farm workers to traverse the state. Large portions are now California’s State Route 99 (SR 99), Oregon Route 99, 99W, 99E and Washington’s SR 99. The highway connected to British Columbia Highway 99 at the Canada\u2013US border.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Around lunch time we were in Bakersfild and decided to visit ur favorite out-of-town Chinese restaurant, Bill Lee’s Bamboo Curtain on 18th Street in the heart of downtown! Great food and we are still eating it on Friday!<\/p>\n

Thank goodness for the Internet and iPhone!<\/p><\/div>\n

We made it by 6:00 PM and visited with Aunt Kaye until about 8:00 PM at which time we decided to NOT go to the hospital and instead, go to our hotel in Lodi.\u00a0 We stayed at Roses And Wine Spa in Lodi.<\/p>\n

The Pear-Endive salad was excellent<\/p><\/div>\n

The next morning was beautiful<\/p><\/div>\n

We had dinner there.\u00a0 Paul had the PEAR & ENDIVE; Belgian Endive, Bartlett Pear, Candied Pecan, Point Reyes Blue Cheese, Pear Vinaigrette\u00a0 which was great!<\/p>\n
