Paul spent hours in the garden cleaning out the dead leaves from the tomatoes, straightening up the\u00a0 cages, watering the new seeds, and adding mulch into the garden for the future corn.\u00a0\u00a0 The raised beds make it so easy to work on the garden as the bricks are at sitting level and it is easy to reach anywhere!<\/p>\n

\"The

The raised beds were a great decision!<\/p><\/div>\n

Tomatoes are everywhere!\u00a0 When removing the dead material, we uncovered many more tomatoes hidden away.\u00a0 We have decided we are making more tomato sauce this coming Wednesday!\u00a0 We want to do that before the house cleaners show up and before Diane and Pat join us this weekend!<\/p>\n

The dead leaves get removed so the garden is “pretty again”<\/p><\/div>\n

Paul planted 60 corn seeds which should result in corn in about 65 days!\u00a0 We shall see!\u00a0 In the other bed, he prepared the ground to receive 60 corn plants…\u00a0 We will be up to our fannies in corn in about two months.<\/p>\n

The soil was tilled and amendments added… Mulch, fertilizer, and calcium!<\/p><\/div>\n

The straw keeps the ground relatively cool in the hot summer days!\u00a0 Mulching is vital to keep the dirt below “cool” and not burn the roots!\u00a0 We buy straw two bales at a time from the local feed store.\u00a0 Straw needs to be aged which means wet it down and let it sit for a few months so the seeds will germinate and die.<\/p>\n

The seeds were planted in an 6×10 configuration (six wide and 10 deep) which provides plenty of room for fertilization<\/p><\/div>\n

When Paul cleaned out the tomatoes, he spotted asparagus being born!\u00a0 This is year number three for the asparagus but wait until next year!\u00a0 The asparagus grows FAST so we will harvest then within the next two days!<\/p>\n

The wine is gone.\u00a0 Oh No!\u00a0 What shall we do?\u00a0 Sue had another brilliant idea!\u00a0 Kobe Steakhouse near home was our new destination.\u00a0 We called Crazy Greg to see if he wanted to join us and he did!\u00a0 We all had great fun!<\/p>\n

Kobe is great fun when one goes to the sushi bar and challenges the chef!\u00a0 Paul asked for something spicy and he got his wish!\u00a0 The little guy had eyes of Jalapenos!<\/p>\n

“Oh dear!\u00a0 What shall we try next?”\u00a0 Sue has suggestions even though she cannot eat sushi!<\/p>\n
