quite like fog, freeway traffic, and a medical team with sharp instruments.<\/p>\n<p>We made it to Long Beach without any traffic, arriving just in time to go through the McDonald&#8217;s drive-thru about a mile past the doctor&#8217;s office\/<\/p>\n<p>The procedure went well, and I got wrapped up like a mummy.\u00a0 I was waiting for someone to ask, and I was going to tell them Mary grabbed me by the throat, but alas, no one asked.<\/p>\n<p>We headed home so Mary could get ready for her painting class.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-96357\" src=\"http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2026\/05\/2026-04-10-001.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1200\" srcset=\"http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2026\/05\/2026-04-10-001.jpg 1200w, http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2026\/05\/2026-04-10-001-650x650.jpg 650w, http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2026\/05\/2026-04-10-001-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2026\/05\/2026-04-10-001-768x768.jpg 768w, http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2026\/05\/2026-04-10-001-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>She took her car today, leaving me home alone with the house and the backyard\u2014both of which immediately filed complaints.\u00a0 While Mary was off creating art, I stayed behind, creating slightly less mess, doing some straightening up outside, and pretending I had a clear plan.<\/p>\n<p>Wine and cheese?\u00a0 What a wonderful combination.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-96335\" src=\"http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2026\/05\/2026-05-12-002_framed.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"711\" srcset=\"http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2026\/05\/2026-05-12-002_framed.jpg 900w, http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2026\/05\/2026-05-12-002_framed-650x514.jpg 650w, http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2026\/05\/2026-05-12-002_framed-150x119.jpg 150w, http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2026\/05\/2026-05-12-002_framed-768x607.jpg 768w, http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2026\/05\/2026-05-12-002_framed-100x79.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When Mary got home, we did what any responsible adults would do after a long day: we immediately fled to the Tartan Room for Happy Hour.<\/p>\n<p>Mary ordered sliders because, apparently, tiny burgers make you feel like you&#8217;re making sensible life choices.\u00a0 I went with shrimp-stuffed avocados, which is basically my way of saying, \u201cI want to be healthy, but also dramatic.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Tartan Room is a laid-back lounge with steaks, cocktails, prime rib, and live music\u2014basically everything you need to convince yourself you&#8217;re just &#8220;grabbing a quick bite&#8221;
