We woke up to temperatures in the 50s, and our dog Scout hesitated to go outside.\u00a0 However, he eventually braved the chilly weather.\u00a0 We spent the morning working in the office, and finally, it’s starting to look more presentable.<\/p>\n

I hate it when people act all intellectual and talk about Mozart when they’ve never even seen one of his paintings.<\/p>\n

We got cleaned up and headed to the dentist.\u00a0 I got pulled over by a friendly police officer and got a ticket*.\u00a0 The conversation went like this:<\/p>\n

Me: “What am I supposed to do with this speeding ticket?”<\/em>
\nOfficer, “Keep it.\u00a0 When you collect four of them, you get a bicycle”<\/em>.<\/p>\n

* I made it up; there was no officer and no ticket!<\/p>\n

After receiving a new crown, we drove along Pacific Coast Highway to Patty’s Place in Seal Beach.\u00a0 Traffic was light, so we made it there in just 21 minutes.\u00a0 The sun was going down and the ocean was beautiful.<\/p>\n

We got table #9 in the back under the large aquarium where they keep their freshest fish.\u00a0 Remember, if you want to see the fish all evening, do NOT order a #7 on the menu!<\/p>\n

While everyone was on their way here, I played with the new iPhone.\u00a0 I need more time as the controls differ from my old iPhone 2!\u00a0 No crank, there are buttons instead of switches, and the images are in color!<\/p>\n

We await everybody to arrive.<\/p><\/div>\n

Ah haw!\u00a0 Our old friend wine has arrived.\u00a0 We popped the cork, and the armona of this fine wine filled the room.\u00a0 You can’t hardly find that in a $1.89\/gallon bottle of wine anymore.\u00a0 \u00a0We both took a whiff of the aroma! Mary was a fountain of information.\u00a0 All I smelled was dirty socks!<\/p>\n

The party can now start.<\/p><\/div>\n

When Robin arrived, we passed her a large bag; her present was challenging to wrap!\u00a0 What could it be?\u00a0 I bet it was a small water buffalo!<\/p>\n

“What’s in the bag?”<\/p><\/div>\n

Yes indeed!<\/p><\/div>\n

The boys looked excited to see what it might be.\u00a0 Perhaps a toy train or a basketball?<\/p>\n

Bob and Nick are enjoying all the fun!<\/p><\/div>\n

No, it was a handmade thingamabob.\u00a0 Mary invented it for leisurely movie-watching.\u00a0 The colors are Robin’s favorite.<\/p>\n

Wow, it’s a……<\/p><\/div>\n

Table #9 is the large one in the back room,\u00a0 under the fish tank, so we had plenty of room.\u00a0 (This is the restaurant where we got married three years ago!) The six of us had a wonderful time sharing stories and catching up on everything.<\/p>\n

We giggled and laughed all evening long.<\/p><\/div>\n

Pam likes her wine and prefers red.\u00a0 We had some Welch’s red grape juice in the back and added some vodka; she didn’t know the difference (until she tasted it).\u00a0 \u00a0I think the expression was “Pa-Tooey!”<\/p>\n

It is because your hearing is also going!<\/p><\/div>\n

We indeed giggled and laughed the whole evening.\u00a0 It was an excellent way to celebrate this great lady’s 60th birthday!<\/p>\n

“Paul, did you really say that?”<\/p><\/div>\n

After dinner, we headed home but stopped at Aces Bar & Grille to spread some holiday cheer.\u00a0 We took control of the jukebox and played Christmas music for an hour.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We went to Aces to wind down.<\/p><\/div>\n

We arrived home at about 10:00 p.m. and crashed.\u00a0 Tomorrow, I have to brief three classes of potential engineers at the local high school about the wonders of Engineering.<\/p>\n
