Something to think about!\u00a0 I plan to do just that!!<\/p><\/div>\n

This week is my cousin’s Tom’s birthday. He would have turned 79 years old, but unfortunately, he passed away several years ago. As I approach the same age, with 80 not too far away, I think about the hugs and kisses I share with Dr. Mary. The thought above reminds me to cherish the moments I have with my loved ones. Dr. Mary has become my best friend, mentor, lover, and go-to person. I promise to appreciate her every single day of my life.<\/p>\n

\n

Here are seven ways to make your partner feel special every single day.<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Give them a compliment<\/strong>: Start their day right with a genuine compliment about something you admire about them. This could be anything from their appearance to their personality to their accomplishments.<\/p>\n

2. Show physical affection<\/strong>: Physical affection, such as hugs, kisses, and holding hands, can go a long way in making your partner feel appreciated and loved.<\/p>\n

3. Listen to them<\/strong>: Take the time to really listen to what your partner has to say, and show that you\u2019re interested in their thoughts and feelings.<\/p>\n

4. Show appreciation for the little things<\/strong>: Whether it\u2019s picking up groceries on the way home from work or cooking dinner, acknowledge and appreciate the small gestures that your partner makes to make your life easier.<\/p>\n

5. Plan surprises<\/strong>: Surprise your partner with something special, whether it\u2019s a thoughtful gift, a romantic date, or a fun outing.<\/p>\n

6. Be supportive and communicative<\/strong>: Be there for your partner when they need it, whether it\u2019s lending a listening ear, offering advice, or simply holding their hand. Let them know what goes on inside your head.<\/p>\n

7. Be vocal, and express:<\/strong> Tell them how much you love them. Show your partner that they are loved and appreciated by telling them regularly how much they mean to you.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

I woke up this morning at 5:00 am to the sound of my inhaler calling out to me from a distance. I quickly turned it on and spent the next fifteen minutes inhaling steam with eucalyptus oil, trying to ease my breathing. It’s not the most pleasant way to start the day, but it’s become a part of my routine, and I’m grateful for the relief it provides.<\/p>\n

Mary woke up at 6:30 am, and we walked around the garden. We spent some time clipping plants and managed to fill up a 90-gallon can. Despite it being the end of summer, the garden still looks pretty good with no dead plants hanging around. Last week, we spent an hour shelling dried on the vine green beans, and now we have enough to make two bean dinners.<\/p>\n

Did You Know?<\/strong> If you ask someone from the South what dried green beans are called, they might say leather britches or shucky beans. These two terms are used interchangeably to refer to the same thing.<\/p>\n

Leather britches<\/strong> are made by stringing fresh green beans on a thread and hanging them up to dry in the sun or in a warm, dry place indoors. Once they\u2019re dried, the beans can be stored in an airtight container and used throughout the year.<\/p>\n

Shucky beans<\/strong> are simply dried green beans that have been shellacked with a coating of lard or bacon grease. This gives them a shiny appearance and helps them to keep their shape when cooked. Shucky beans are often used in soups and stews.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

We are finally feeling better, so we spent about an hour working in the garden before getting ready to run some errands. First, we went to CVS to check on some medications, and then we headed to Home Depot to purchase some essential items we needed to maintain our garden.<\/p>\n

We decided we would drag out Halloween tomorrow and see what we have.\u00a0 It is always fun to decorate for the holidays!<\/p>\n

We were both hungry, so we went to Rockwell’s for brunch. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed due to some loud jackhammering noises from the kitchen.<\/p>\n

Mary had a breakfast burrito while I had a lobster burrito. We both enjoyed sangrias to honor Bob and Donna, who are in Europe and recently completed a sangria class.<\/p>\n

Honoring the drink’s red hue,\u00a0the term Sangria is believed to have derived from \u201csangre,\u201d the Spanish word for blood<\/b>. Sangria rose to popularity in the United States during the 1964 World’s Fair in New York. Spain’s sponsored pavilion featured the drink and the rest is history!<\/p>\n

Time to dine!<\/p><\/div>\n

Taco Surf has this painting\/mural on the wall! We read about the owner and he had another eestaurant in Tustin which we are going to find and go to real soon.<\/p>\n

After having lunch, we went to the market and eventually came back home. We worked in the garden for an hour before deciding to go back inside to stay cool. For dinner, Mary made dinner with everything coming from the garden, and I helped her make eggplant with a stuffing made of tomatoes, onions, and cheese. The dish turned out to be outstanding.<\/p>\n
