Mary’s calendar shows that today will be another busy day.\u00a0 We began by removing the peas from the garden, which were no longer producing.\u00a0 Next, we needed to visit the nursery to find a climbing vegetable before the party, but alas, we got too busy getting ready for the family.\u00a0 Monday we will go vegetable shopping.<\/p>\n

My trusty Red Syder double action bee-bee gun and I were in the yard, and I was singing “Bye Bye Birdie” as I managed to reduce the crow population by five!<\/p>\n

Dead Eye Paul!<\/p><\/div>\n

Colleen visited her mother, and everything went smoothly.\u00a0 We prepared the house for guests, as Zachary and his family are scheduled to arrive at 2:00 pm for a refreshing swim in our 86-degree pool!<\/p>\n

Kids who swim tend to have only one volume level – screeching!\u00a0 Despite this, they had a great time swimming, and Lilly particularly enjoyed using Mary’s new unicorn float.\u00a0 Remy just enjoyed everything.<\/p>\n

We asked Joe and his family to join us, but COVID apparently got them at the camp!<\/p>\n

Lilly and Remy came to swim with Mommy and Daddy.<\/p><\/div>\n

I shared some tomato pie with Mary, and we both nibbled on it.\u00a0 I also brought her some cucumber salad.\u00a0 Mary was chatting with the grandkids, who affectionately called her “Miss Mary.”<\/p>\n

We spent about an hour chatting after our swim.<\/p>\n

Mary had set aside a box of toys for the kids to go through.\u00a0 Remy and Lilly were particularly excited about the beads and other artistic goodies as they rummaged through them.\u00a0 Mary and I share the love of family and enjoyed watching the little varmints going through the newly found treasures.<\/p>\n

We visited for quite a while.<\/p><\/div>\n

It’s time to bid farewell, but we’ll be reunited with them on Wednesday at the OC Fair.\u00a0 Lilly was thrilled with the sunflowers, so we promised her a few when they were ripe and ready to be consumed as seeds.<\/p>\n

I intended to go to the store, but my car transportation had engine problems, so I had to stay home. It’s a shame modern vehicles don’t measure up to their predecessors.<\/p>\n

Oops!<\/p><\/div>\n

It’s 6:00 pm, and we’re ready for some delicious cheese fondue.\u00a0 We recently tried a new method, and it turned out great!\u00a0 We dipped onions, apples, grapes, bread, bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, and other tasty treats into the hot, bubbling cheese.\u00a0 We followed the fondue rules from Martha Stewart, which state that you have a penalty if you accidentally lose your item in the cheese.\u00a0 If you’re a girl, you have to kiss the guys, and if you’re a boy, you must buy a round of drinks.\u00a0 \u00a0I feel sorry for the crazy libs; they would be so confused!<\/p>\n

Fondue for dinner.<\/p><\/div>\n

After dinner, we played Telestrations.\u00a0 Each player starts with their erasable sketch book, marker, and word card.\u00a0 A roll of the die determines each player’s secret word.\u00a0 The timer gets turned, and everyone draws their word.\u00a0 After 60 seconds, everyone passes their book to the player on their left.<\/p>\n

Then each player takes a few seconds to guess in words(s) what they see and passes again.\u00a0 The timer is turned, and everyone draws the guess.\u00a0 This continues until everyone’s sketchbook passes by every player and returns back to its original owner, where it’s time for The Big Reveal.<\/p>\n

Everyone shares their book, and the hilarious miscommunication is revealed.\u00a0 Just like the game of “telephone,” the outcomes are unpredictable, and the laughter is contagious!<\/p>\n
