Mary decided to drive on the first leg of the trip!<\/p><\/div>\n

We departed at 8:00 am and arrived at Saratoga Oaks Inn at 3:30 pm, with stops for breakfast and two restroom breaks, taking seven and a half hours.\u00a0 We travel together very well!<\/p>\n

The drive was mostly smooth, but many cars were speeding past me.\u00a0 We arrived at the hotel at 3:30 pm, right on time, according to GPS.\u00a0 Despite the heat, there was a cool breeze.<\/p>\n

At 4:00 pm, we went to a nearby Peruvian restaurant.\u00a0 We shared a stuffed potato, and each had a drink to prepare for the evening.<\/p>\n

At dinner, Diane, Pat, Eldon (Pat’s brother), Terry, Lisa, Patrick, Mary, Emily, and I enjoyed sharing for an hour and a half.\u00a0 Mary fit right in!<\/p>\n

I could not help myself, so I told Patrick about the man who inserted an ‘ad’ in the local classifieds: ‘Wife wanted’.\u00a0 The next day he received a hundred letters. They all said the same thing: ‘You can have mine.’<\/p>\n

Ten of us had a delightful dinner at Jack’s this evening.<\/p><\/div>\n

After dropping off our passengers at nightfall, we returned to the hotel.\u00a0 Despite my initial desire to explore the nightlife, exhaustion from a long day on the road and a full stomach led us to immediately crash without even turning on the TV.<\/p>\n

Mary was worried about fitting in with Sue’s family. But at dinner, they made her feel welcome and I couldn’t get a word in edgewise.\u00a0 Diane and Mary even spoke Swedish to each other; Diane was in Sweden for three years and Mary worked there one summer while going to college.\u00a0 On the way home after dinner, Mary mentioned how nice everyone was. Dianne, Pat, and the entire family are special to me.<\/p>\n

We have free time tomorrow morning, so we’ll walk down Big Basin Road in downtown Saratoga.\u00a0 This will help us exercise before we head to Diane’s for a catered event celebrating Hannah and James’ wedding.\u00a0 It’s the first time family and friends will gather to celebrate the couple, as their wedding was a small event held exclusively for their parents in the redwoods.\u00a0 It should be a wonderful time!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
