We hit the yard at 6:30 am to clear the bushes away for the wall so Tom could paint behind them!\u00a0 While Mary fixed the bushes, I laid down the main water line for the planters and arranged them along the wall.<\/p>\n

The main is 3\/4″, and the feeders are all 1\/4″, so I had a lot of hole punching.\u00a0 We used about 250 feet of driplines to get everything watered.<\/p>\n

We worked until 10:30 am and then had to get ready to go to the Elks Lodge Girl’s Night Out.\u00a0 We hoped to hear from our friend in Villa Park, but there was nothing. It is sad that someone chooses to live that way; it is what it is.\u00a0 We are not going to mention this issue again.<\/p>\n

On the way to the Elks, there was a horrible noise in the car.\u00a0 I decided to drop by the dealer who was on the way.\u00a0 He fixed it in a short time.<\/p>\n

A quick stop at the cr store fixed the problem.<\/p><\/div>\n

We had quite a crowd today: Jim and Vicky, Mike and Linda, Bill Capps, Bob Z, George, Iris and Will, and us.\u00a0 These informal luncheons have been going on since April 2020, and we have only missed twice, once we were out of town and once we were sick.<\/p>\n

The swordfish was outstanding.<\/p><\/div>\n

Vicky livened up the table, and Jim seemed to enjoy all the nonsense.\u00a0 Friends are the family that you choose.<\/p>\n

We had a full house today!<\/p><\/div>\n

This gaggled uses the time to coordinate our social events for the upcoming week or two!<\/p>\n

George pulled a fast one on us; we ordered chili instead of his usual “hockey-puck” hamburger patty.<\/p>\n

I always wondered, How does a hamburger introduce his wife???\u00a0 Then it came to me in a blinding flash, “Meat patty!”<\/p>\n

Arrows were flying in all directions.<\/p><\/div>\n

The Elks are having a family picnic day at the Lodge on the 4th from 2-5 pm.\u00a0 They always decorate a table for the upcoming holiday; it gives us good ideas.<\/p>\n

It’s too bad the population does not know that “If you take advantage of everything America has to offer, there’s nothing you can’t accomplish.”<\/p>\n

Ready for the 4th celebration.<\/p><\/div>\n

We returned home by 1:30 pm, and Mary took a short nap.\u00a0 I hit the yard running, deciding to replumb all the drip lines affected by the paint job.\u00a0 That meant I had twenty-five emitters throughout 120 feet; it took me until 6:00 pm!\u00a0 The drip system is now white and, at a distance, almost invisible.<\/p>\n

I was sitting in my undies as it was hot in the yard, so Mary took a carefully arranged photo!\u00a0 Besides, this will get me a little darker for our upcoming voyage to Hawaii!<\/p>\n

White-tights time!<\/p><\/div>\n

I was not afraid of sitting in my shorts as I, over time, have developed several excellent self-protection techniques.\u00a0 I fear not!\u00a0 Not even raging bulls can scare me!<\/p>\n

It works every time!<\/p><\/div>\n

The work was done,\u00a0 all the pots were back in place, and we replanted several of them, including two dedicated to flowers and three for veggies.\u00a0 We planted bluebonnets, baby breath,\u00a0 carrots, cucumbers, and scarlet red pole beans.<\/p>\n

The drip system is almost invisible.<\/p><\/div>\n

Mary deadheaded the roses again and trimmed them flowers to make them perfect.\u00a0 She reported to me any watering issues, and I fixed them immediately.<\/p>\n

Our drip system is controlled in the backyard by three internet-connected controllers, each with six zones allowing us control of the entire yard via the iPhone.<\/p>\n

All connections were checked.<\/p><\/div>\n

We tested our pacer software, and both of us did over 9,000 steps yesterday.<\/p>\n

We tested the new drip system, and Mary found two places not working correctly, so I quickly made the appropriate fixes.<\/p>\n

When we went to change for the swim spa, the moon shone on us as if to say, Good job, guys!”<\/p>\n

Mary and I are both selenophiles!\u00a0 Selenophiles are people who love the moon and find joy and peace of mind when looking at it.\u00a0 They find it soothingly captivating.<\/p>\n

The moon was smiling at us!<\/p><\/div>\n

Sunset is just minutes away!<\/p>\n

We did not have dinner as the Elk’s lunch was very filling.\u00a0 We hit the spa at 8:30 pm and rested for two complete cycles.\u00a0 We also ran out of propane on one of the standup heaters, so a trip to Home Depot is in the future.<\/p>\n

Goodbye, sun, see you tomorrow!<\/p><\/div>\n

Then inside, we went to the breakfast room; we watched two episodes of “Suits” while munching on yesterday’s last of the Bruschetta.\u00a0 We put the filling onto two brown and served dinner rolls.<\/p>\n

We would have gone to the TV room ad onto our new theater chairs, but within ten minutes of laying back and watching TV, we would both be sound asleep!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
