Examples of how stupid our society has become!<\/p>\n
To the garden, we went via the flower beds.\u00a0 I redid several of the drip lines to provide additional moisture for summertime.\u00a0 The flowers are doing well, and we are beginning to see bee activity which we need to pollinate the veggies.<\/p>\n

The bees are buzzin’.<\/p><\/div>\n
To the garden for a fresh salad!!!\u00a0 Everything here was picked this morning (except the cottage cheese).\u00a0 Is it safe to eat a salad? I asked myself.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/b><\/span>It romaines to be seen.<\/p>\n Yum!<\/p><\/div>\n We have not heard from our friend in Villa Park, so we assume she is still “sick”; otherwise, she might call and come visit the garden!\u00a0 If she does, it would be the third time out of the house in two years!\u00a0 We miss her.<\/p>\n We had a stainless steel heavy-duty mesh shelf, and Mary suggested we use it to cure the onions.\u00a0 It is working well!<\/p>\n The onions are now curing, meaning drying out the stalks and eliminating excess water from the bulbs.\u00a0 Curing onions allows the outer layers to dry and tighten, forming a protective wrapping around the bulb.\u00a0 Onions cure best in a shaded, dry, and cool place.\u00a0 Curing helps remove excess moisture, allowing them to last longer.\u00a0 Onions are best stored in a cool but dry, dark, and well-ventilated place.<\/p>\n Just hanging around!<\/p><\/div>\n The UPS man arrived, and we got a new flag for the front yard; “We The People” now flies proudly under Old Glory!\u00a0 The old flag was similar, but it was printed on only one side, and we get winds from all directions, so a two-sided flag was needed.<\/p>\n A perfect breezy day for flying flags!<\/p><\/div>\n Tomorrow we are decorating for our nation’s birthday!\u00a0 The bunting will go on the fence.\u00a0 The initial meaning of the flag-colored “bunting,” when it first appeared in print in the mid-18th century, was “light cotton or woolen cloth used to make flags and banners.” This kind of cloth was of a very open weave and apparently called “bunting” because it was similar to loosely-woven cloth used to sift grain<\/p>\n Across the front yard fence!<\/p><\/div>\n The gazebo will be ablaze with several windsocks!\u00a0 The FAA has set standards for using a wind sock to determine wind speed.\u00a0 According to the FAA, the wind sock will be fully extended in a 17-mile-per-hour wind.\u00a0 The FAA also states that the wind must be blowing at 3.5 miles per hour to determine wind direction properly.<\/p>\n Our favorite colors!<\/p><\/div>\n Tonight we are off to the Elks Lodge and will dance to 5-Star Band.\u00a0 Our mason, Gary, and his bride will join us after a quick garden tour.<\/p>\n We danced until the wee hours… 9:30 pm.<\/p><\/div>\n Gary joined us around 7:00 pm.<\/p><\/div>\n After getting home, we crashed.\u00a0 Today was a full day, and we never stopped to rest!<\/p>\n Tomorrow we are going to the Elks again for the Jam Session, and we will ask our friend to go with us so she can visit with the Zaitz, Iris, and Will, and Mike, and Bridgette.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Examples of how stupid our society has become! “Caution: Shoots rubber bands.” — On a product called “Rubber Band Shooter.” “Warning: May contain small parts.” — On a Frisbee. “Not suitable for children aged 36 months or less.” — On … Continue reading ![\"\"](\"http:\/\/lilesnet.com\/dailydiary\/wp-content\/dailydiary\/uploads\/2023\/06\/2023-06-24-001-650x488.jpg\")
