It worked fine for years until cars got too complex to change the oil!<\/p><\/div>\n

When my eyes opened this morning, there was Mary with a Father’s Day card and a nicely decorated present!\u00a0 I have wanted one of these buffers for years; the older I get, the more it is needed!\u00a0 The floor gets farther away each year.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

We were up early and had our coffee while planning what to do in the garden this morning.\u00a0 Robin and Bob are coming by at noon so we can have a glass of champagne before going to the Elks.<\/p>\n

We did a lot of leaf\/branch pruning with our new garden scissors, designed just for that purpose.\u00a0 We take off the diseased portions of any plant, and as the tomatoes produce, they are naturally yellow and have to go!<\/p>\n

\"\"

We each have one and one to spare!<\/p><\/div>\n

On our continued journey, we ran across the Tomatillos, which were going great, and we sent a picture to Miss Vicky as they are destined for her kitchen.\u00a0 Tomatillos go by many names, including Mexican green tomatoes (or tomate verde in Spanish), husk tomatoes, and jamberries.<\/p>\n

Did You Know?\u00a0 <\/strong>The tomatillo is thought to have been first domesticated by the Aztecs in central Mexico around 800 BCE and was an important food crop to several pre-Columbian peoples in Mesoamerica, including the Mayans.\u00a0 The name tomatillo (which means “little tomato” in Spanish) comes from the Nahuatl word tomatl.<\/div>\n

They look great!<\/p><\/div>\n

It was getting time to clean up and go to the Elks, and while I was showering, I remembered the fantastic Father’s Day present presented to me by my wife.\u00a0 \u00a0I made a command decision, I would dry off, and instead of going to the computer to finish the drying process, I would go to the garage and polish my shoes with the new machine.<\/p>\n

Little did I know, Mary figured out where I was (I guess she heard the polisher going), and through the magic of the Apple iPhone camera, she snapped a picture of me hard at work.\u00a0 She snapped several; the one below is the only one suitable for public disclosure.<\/p>\n

She was very quiet when she opened the door.\u00a0 \u00a0I was there for quite a while as I did four pairs of shoes, including my work tennis shoes which are now pretty enough to wear in public.

Caught red-handed and pink-butted (is that a word?)<\/p><\/div>\n

The kids popped in at 11:20 am, and we had a glass of champagne and walked the garden.\u00a0 Nick had not seen it in quite a while and noticed the difference.\u00a0 We took the kid’s new car to the lodge, and it was a delight.\u00a0 It had every bell and whistle imaginable, some I didn’t know about.\u00a0 The sunroof was big enough for the backseat passengers to enjoy the view!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The Lodge was packed, and we had our table for twelve.\u00a0 Bob and Donna Z, along with Amy, Joe, and the varmints, joined us.\u00a0 \u00a0We swapped chairs all afternoon, so everybody met with everyone else.\u00a0 We expected the Capps & Branders, but alas, they were no-shows.<\/p>\n

Robin says, “You Are Number One”; I thought she said I could have one drink!<\/p><\/div>\n

We were close to the food line towards the back of the Lodge.\u00a0 I did in an entire burger plus a hot dog and even had mac & cheese plus a little salad.\u00a0 I stuffed myself and shall be frightened of the bathroom scales for days!<\/p>\n

We sat at the head of the table.\u00a0 (It looks like a father-daughter picture!)<\/p><\/div>\n

Robin and Amy made it pleasant for their husbands, Bob and Joe.\u00a0 Amy heard about the cruise, so we are beginning to plan a cruise with them later this year.\u00a0 We need to get Amy’s work schedule (she is a teacher).<\/p>\n

Robin and Amy have a long chat in line.<\/p><\/div>\n

The dining hall was noisy, but after a while, we could tune the background noise out, and within\u00a0 30 minutes of people eating, it began to clear out.<\/p>\n

Our friend lives in a Hawaiian HOA where they passed a noise ordinance so strict they can’t even laugh out loud.\u00a0 All they can do is a low ha.<\/h3>\n

Our table kept busy visiting.<\/p><\/div>\n

The Magic Castle guys were terrific, coming to each table and subjecting everyone to prestidigitation.<\/p>\n

The boys were amazed!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

We were inches from his hands and did not see how he changed the coin colors or hid a coin under Nick’s watch!<\/p>\n

How did he do that??<\/p><\/div>\n

His dialogue kept everyone in stitches!<\/p>\n

\"\"

Great performers.<\/p><\/div>\n

I offered to show him how to make a hamburger disappear.\u00a0 We told him that we had stayed in an Elvis-themed hotel.\u00a0 The burgers in the restaurant are for people who Love Meat Tender.<\/p>\n

The magician tries to trick the Doc.<\/p><\/div>\n

Now Joe is getting serious and is observing.<\/p>\n

\"\"

Joe and Amy watch intently.<\/p><\/div>\n

Joe does the old salt trick.\u00a0 Making a complete mess of the table, Joe pours out three pounds of salt on the mirror and carefully places the empty salt shaker on its edge.<\/p>\n

\"\"

Joe does the trick for the magician.<\/p><\/div>\n

With a mighty blow, only to be matched by the wolf in the Three Little Pigs story, he manages to send salt flying for three tables, causing the members to begin coughing without end.\u00a0 The paramedics showed up with breathing gear a few minutes later.<\/p>\n

We now call Joe “Poof The Magic Monster!”<\/p>\n

The salt shaker stay put after the salt is moved!<\/p><\/div>\n

It was approaching 3:00 pm and time to head for the homestead where Scout awaited us with a fish in his mouth; it’s called baited breath!<\/p>\n

I was heading home.<\/p><\/div>\n

We sat around the patio for another hour, having fun and planning upcoming events.\u00a0 Eating with Bob and Robin is always fun!<\/p>\n

We visited with the kids for a while; Mary was ready for a coffee.<\/p><\/div>\n

Papa made a haul today; a sign from the Duda’s, great cards from the Liles, a super lovely message from BZ & DZ, and two fantastic tee shirts with appropriate messages on them from Colleen and family!<\/p>\n

Happy Father’s Day, Bob!<\/p><\/div>\n
