We both got up at 6:00 AM this morning to the sound of rain.\u00a0 Scout is wearing the “cone of shame” because he has been biting himself.<\/p>\n
He woke us up twice last night wanting a drink of water and then wanting to use the facilities.\u00a0 We think he was getting even with us!<\/p>\n
I repaired our roll-around TV stand this morning, and that was a fight.\u00a0 The old thumbs aren’t what they used to be, and doing an upside-down double twist while holding things is no longer easy!\u00a0 We use this stand almost daily as we did not want a TV in the Family Room.<\/p>\n

With the new screws tightly in place, it is just like new!<\/p><\/div>\n
The rain was coming down in buckets.\u00a0 We got slightly over an inch of new water today!<\/p>\n
The rain gutter in front was blocked, so during a lull in the downpour, it took the ladder and found just a tiny handful of leaves blocking the entire downspout.\u00a0 I rigged up a wire mesh filter to keep that from happening again and ordered a set of professional downspout blockers from Amazon.<\/p>\n

It’s raining to beat the band!<\/p><\/div>\n
The rain came with a lot of wind, as indicated by the flags standing straight up!<\/p>\n
Remember:\u00a0 Live life like the wind is at your back and your sails are flying high.<\/p>\n
Three drunkards are standing on top of the Empire State Building.<\/p>\n
The first one says to the other two, “You know, it’s a funny thing about these wind currents.\u00a0 A person could jump off this building right now and not even hit the ground; the wind would carry him right back up to the top of the building!”<\/p>\n
The second drunk says, “You’re crazy!”<\/p>\n
The first drunk says, “I’m serious!\u00a0 Watch!”<\/p>\n
The first drunk jumps off the building, and the wind carries him back up to the top!<\/p>\n
The second drunk says, “Let me try!” So the second drunk leaps off the building and promptly falls to the street below, landing with a hideous SPLAT!<\/p>\n
The first drunk smiles, clearly amused.\u00a0 The third drunk looks at him and says, “You know, Superman, you can be a real Jerk When you’re drunk!”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The flags were whipping in the wind making a loud snapping sound.<\/p><\/div>\n

It was also raining in the backyard; how amazing.\u00a0 The drains are all working fine, but the pool is beginning to reach the top.\u00a0 We have four drains that run directly into the storm channel behind the house, so we are not worried!<\/p>\n
We heard on the news that a freak wind destroyed the local cheese factory. Nothing but de Brie was left.<\/p>\n

Oh dear, the pool is about to overflow!<\/p><\/div>\n
Well, we have a choice!\u00a0 Stay inside all day and work or go shopping.\u00a0 Shopping won beside Mary wanted a new dress for the Chinese New Year celebration at Starlighter’s next week.\u00a0 We have a personal shopper, Mary Capps, and she found an assortment of dresses at Macy’s.<\/p>\n
Mary’s broken arm meant I had to go into the dressing room and assist with six different outfits.\u00a0 This dress won even though it needed to be shortened a bit.\u00a0 I had fun, I guess it was like playing paper dolls!<\/p>\n

We went shopping in a deluge.<\/p><\/div>\n
After the find, we wandered around Macy’s to return to our car.\u00a0 We also were looking for a restroom, and the staff was amazingly gone.\u00a0 The store was nice, but they sure lacked service, including the fact they did not answer the phones later in the afternoon!<\/p>\n
I suggested Persian or Indian food for lunch; we selected the Royal Kyber, and it was terrific.\u00a0 We made sure the manager knew Mary was a spice woose, so he ensured her fall-off-the-bone lamb was mild.\u00a0 The manager and I have been friends for thirty-plus years, and I heard him yell at the cook, “Paul is here; pour on the spices!’\u00a0 \u00a0 I ordered lamb vindaloo!<\/p>\n
Vindaloo or vindalho is an Indian curry dish originally from Goa, based on the Portuguese dish carne de vinha d’alhos.\u00a0 It is known globally in its British Indian form as a staple of curry house and Indian restaurant menus and is often regarded as a fiery, spicy<\/strong> dish.<\/p>\n I could hear the hot peppers yelling, “Ouch”!<\/p><\/div>\n After two bites, I introduced Mary to Mango-Lasse, an Indian fire extinguisher!\u00a0 It contains mangos, yogurt, sugar, and some mild spices.<\/p>\n We decided it was Indian lunchtime at the Royal Kyber in Costa Mesa.<\/p><\/div>\n Returning home, we took a short nap and then tried to call Macy’s to get the dress altered.\u00a0 We called them ten times on two phones and got no answers.\u00a0 \u00a0Finally, Mary called Dianne and got the address of Susie Sun’s alterations store.\u00a0 We went to Tustin and got the alterations marked up.<\/p>\n After visiting the alteration store, we headed home to get some goodies for Jan.\u00a0 We brought her sushi and some homemade cucumber salad (which is rapidly becoming my favorite).<\/p>\n We visited Jan for a while, and I shared the Amos and Andy Christmas video with her.\u00a0 We called Mike Andersen and checked in with him.\u00a0 We finally got home around 8:00 PM.<\/p>\n We paid a visit to Jan.<\/p><\/div>\n We crashed as soon as we got home; it was a long day!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" We both got up at 6:00 AM this morning to the sound of rain.\u00a0 Scout is wearing the “cone of shame” because he has been biting himself.
