Winter officially begins Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at 1:48 PST.<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

It was colder than a witch’s tit this morning, with the Alexa saying 43 degrees!\u00a0 \u00a0We had our coffee and then dashed out to survey the situation; we had a lot of work to accomplish!<\/p>\n

So very true!<\/p><\/div>\n

It was the second Wednesday of the month, so our cleaning folks were not scheduled to show up until about 3:30 PM.\u00a0 \u00a0We had an excellent breakfast waiting until 10:00 AM to face the garden.<\/p>\n

A perfectly managed Christmas correct in every detail is a sure sign of someone who hasn’t enough to do.<\/p>\n

The first to be planted were the six blueberry plants.\u00a0 I was pleased that the soil remained loose even without the perlite.\u00a0 The drip system was perfectly placed, making the digging easy.<\/p>\n

After the blueberries came the black, Boysen, and raspberries.<\/p>\n

The gardening was not too bad since we always worked in the sun.\u00a0 The little critters like the sun also!<\/p>\n

We had a visitor!<\/p><\/div>\n

I got the acid planting additives and a box of perlite and used them in every location.\u00a0 Mary placed the plants along the wall, making it easier for me to dig.<\/p>\n

Mary put the plants where they will be placed.<\/p><\/div>\n

I stopped halfway through as the old back was giving me fits.\u00a0 Then it occurred to me that I have a power auger in the garage!\u00a0 I retrieved it, and the remaining plants went in pretty fast!<\/p>\n

Digger Liles at your service!<\/p><\/div>\n

You know you are getting old when everything hurts, and what doesn\u2019t hurt doesn\u2019t work.<\/p>\n

Mary worked on the sweetpeas, planted several flowers, and began filling in the bare spots where we needed additional mulch!<\/p>\n

I got the power auger out, and that sped things up!<\/p><\/div>\n

I am coming to get you!\u00a0 FYI: By the end of the Twelve Days of Christmas song, your home is crammed with 23 flying Birds and 50 hyperactive Humans.\u00a0 Speaking about hyperactivity…<\/p>\n

“Run!\u00a0 I am going to get you!”<\/p><\/div>\n

By 3:00 PM, we were bushed, so we cleaned up a little, waited for our cleaning folks, and then headed to the market to get Jan and dinner.\u00a0 We had California rolls and a glass of wine.\u00a0 We left Jan with a large package of pinwheel sandwiches; she is set for a week!<\/p>\n

We are leaving Jan’s home after dinner.<\/p><\/div>\n
